Excellent location near central restaurants and shops with free car parking right in front of the ryokan. Free coffee, water and tea available in the lobby. Liked having a private bath time but wish we could go twice. Good breakfast! I didn’t realize the room I booked did not have a toilet. In Japan, our past experience was that ryokans did not commonly have showers or bathtubs in the room but they at least had a toilet and sink. I assumed this was the case but I was wrong. Luckily, I was able to pay to upgrade our room to one with a toilet but looking back at the price we paid, I don’t feel like this ryokan was a great value. Kawagoe is very quiet at night. Most shops and restaurants close by 5 or 6pm.

We like the private onsen that we can use for an hour. It’s close to Koedo and the staff are very friendly. Some staff can speak English. It’s a bit far from the train station but you can take the bus to go there. The bus stop is just across from this ryokan. Nothing

Old style no seating

Wonderful location very close to tourist and shopping area. Clean and nice traditional facilities. Very accommodating staff.

Good place to stay for a visit to historic Kawagoe. Bus "06" is best method from and to railway station. All historic places of Kawagoe are within easy walking. Ryokan has a restaurant specialized for Wagyu beef dishes, unfortunately it is not possible to book beforehand - if you arrive before 18:00, you can book a table on the spot. The traditional bath of the ryokan is possible to book for 1h private use. Room size was smaller than in other ryokans which we have stayed. There were no usual 2x chair + table set next to the window (actually there were no space to have such)

Everything, it’s was great Nothing

The ryokan is beautiful and located in a very good location. It’s a few minutes’ walk to the main attractions. I love that they provide hot water. With the news about some guests boiling their socks and underwear in hotel kettles, we avoided using the kettle in the room. The owner and the staff were very kind. The breakfast is healthy and fulfilling. The best thing is that we have one hour of private time to use the bath. This is very thoughtful for people who want to try an onsen but are unfamiliar with taking off all their clothes in front of others. Being with family members alone makes it easier. Nothing.

Room was very nice. Location was very good.

Amazing place. Super cozy and very cool experience getting to use the bath/onsen room.

It was beautiful and so relaxing. We loved how comfy the beds were and how beautiful the facilities were. The onsen was spectacular. The staff was so accommodating when our train was delayed. We would book here again in a heartbeat. Honestly I don’t have anything that we didn’t like. Everything was great.

The room was comfortable and great. The location was amazing. Enjoyed using the 1 hour of private time in the public on-site bath. Definitely would stay there again.

This ryokan is a very pleasant establishment. The traditional Japanese architecture here, and within the surrounding historic, castle town of Kawagoe, was such a wonderful experience. The lovely room and the onsite private, family bath were so peaceful to rest and relax in at the end of a long day, filled with traveling and exploring. The traditional breakfast we had was delicious, and the staff were very kind to us during our single night here. We were even able to leave our luggage by the front desk, after checkout, for a few hours, so we could explore a bit more before setting off to our next destination. Which, there are so many places to explore here (a nearby Studio Ghibli shop, a place where you can craft your own chopsticks, and so many shrines and temples). We would definitely return to this ryokan.

Homely and centrally located. Bath doesn’t look very clean.

I came here for the first day of the Kawagoe festival. I regret that I didn't book an additional night so that I could enjoy the entire weekend of festivities. I loved it so much I asked if I could extend my stay but sadly they were booked. The staff was so warm and welcoming and sweet and were excited and happy to share their insights about the festival. I communicated in very basic baby Japanese and translator app and the staff was able to do basic English. The location of this Ryokan is superb. In the heart of the historic district. It's where you want to be - walking distance to almost everything. Seriously the festival floats parade right by the front door of the place. See picture. It was clean, cozy and welcoming. The building is historic. I was told it is over 100 years hold. Therefore you should expect some quirks and character that come with an old building, like slightly creaky stairs. The Onsen bath is on the smaller side, so they operate on a reservation system. When you check in you will be asked to choose a time slot for your bath and also a time for breakfast. It was wonderful having a bath all to myself. Breakfast was delicious but very Japanese. At the urging of the hostess I tried the natto and it was pretty good. ? When I checked out to wander the festival for the rest of the day they very graciously let me store my bag there. I of course lost track of time and didn't return to get my bag until 830 at night. I feel bad for abusing their hospitality but I am also eternally grateful. ? I think that I should be fair and warn other Western tourists not all rooms have an ensuite toilet. At least that was my understanding. I was lucky enough to book a room that did. But I believe this is probably the exception rather than the rule here. So if that's important to you read the room descriptions carefully.

Beautiful and clean, very cozy There is nothing I didn’t like about this place.
-
We have to reserve the bath time, which dictated our schedule. We hoped they could give us a window of several hours to take a bath instead of reserving 1 hour in the evening. Great coffee wasn’t available at this property.

Close to the tourist spot Little Edo (the old Kawagoe downtown). A bit far too the stations, but the bus stop is just across the street and all three stations are alos in walking distance. As we had a lot of luggage (that accumulated from day to day in Japan), we used a taxi to get from SEIBU Hon-Kawagoe station for only JPY 900! We will come back in one of our next Japan trips.

Great location walking distance from the old town with a amazing burger restaurant right on the corner. Private onsen rental time given at check and for no extra charge, which was lovely and made my teenager much more comfortable with the onsen thing. Breakfast was fantastic and very authentic
