Villa The Spot Koh Samui

Pros: The views are absolutely stunning, and the infinity-style pool overlooking the surroundings is spectacular and undeniably serene. Rooms are spacious and offer beautiful views, making the stay peaceful and relaxing. Cons (Important to read before booking): Reaching the villa is extremely difficult. About 4 minutes before arrival, the road becomes almost 90 degrees steep, causing 90% of Grab and Bolt drivers to refuse drop-offs or pickups. This can easily disrupt ferry or flight schedules. Several times, we had to get off midway and walk 5–6 minutes down the near-vertical hill. Walking barefoot felt safer, as shoes or slippers tend to skid, making this unsafe for many travelers. The owner suggests using his private taxi, which costs almost double Grab or Bolt. Although he kindly helped carry our luggage, this inconvenience is unavoidable unless you plan to stay in the villa most of the time. Breakfast is basic not like bigger resorts which is fine. Not ideal if you want to stay close to the city or have easy access to transport and dining. Not suitable for families, elderly guests, or anyone with mobility concerns or Indian families who. Best only for adventurous travelers comfortable with steep, risky terrain.

The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The view from it was extraordinary and the staff was kind and helpful.

The view was great as per the pictures The pictures give you the impression that every villa uses their own pool however residents in other villas were using our pool. Staff was extremely unfriendly. One specific staff member tried charging us to help deliver our luggage’s to the top of the road since cars can not drive down to the villa. The staff made us feel like we were imposing in our stay even though we are paying customers.

I booked a 3-night stay at The Spot Samui, paying over $300 in advance, and the experience was almost immediately nothing short of a nightmare. If you're considering staying here, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. First off, I specifically searched for accommodations with private parking and selected The Spot Samui based on this criterion. I rented a car upon arriving, knowing I could comfortably park at the accommodation. To my dismay, upon arrival, the roads leading to the hotel were extremely narrow, steep, and downright dangerous. To make matters worse, there was no private parking available, contrary to what was advertised. When I contacted the inhospitable owner about the parking situation, he coldly said we should have gone by motorbike, and insisted that we could park our car anyway. We ended up having to leave our car on the side of the treacherous road, worried that passing cars and trucks would damage it. The location of this hotel is not only horrible but also perilous at night. Given the dangerous location and lack of amenities as advertised, we made the decision not to stay. Unfortunately, the owner, displaying a complete lack of customer service and basic decency, refused to issue a refund. In summary, The Spot Samui is a poorly located, falsely advertised, and incredibly unwelcoming establishment. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place if possible.

I don't normally write reviews, as I myself don't read a lot of them. However, staying at Villa the Spot was this one-time instance where I feel I need to share my stay. I'll start with the positive: 1) The facility itself is amazing! Both pools, views from the hotel and the surrounding area is a must for those who seek quiet and escapism 2) The room is quite large with an amazing view. We opted for a room on the second floor, which in turn has a great view of the property and the sea. We really enjoyed the amenities the room has to offer and overall we were very pleased with the room we received 3) The room was being cleaned everyday and it was a real pleasure to come back after a long day to a nice and tidy room. They sure put on an effort on being clean, which is really important to us Unfortunately, that sums up the good part of our stay. Most of our stay was a mixed experience: 1) Lack of service - The service at the hotel was painstakingly slow, with any request from our end took at least an hour to fulfill. Check-in took a long time (as the couple that was checking out did not complete their check-out on time, as they were stuck somewhere on the island), room service took a long time and generally speaking there was a feeling that the staff was lacking energy. Every time I tried talking to the owner or the staff, it felt to me as if I was an annoyance rather than a customer or someone the hotel staff should be interested in. I felt very uncomfortable at times with the staff, something that has never happened to me before. Maybe the staff needs a vacation in order to help people on theirs ? 2) Unexpected payments - While renting a motorbike from the hotel (a service being provided by them), our motorbike has unexpectedly stopped working for an unknown reason to us. While checking out, we were asked to pay for the repair, even though it was not stated at any point that we are responsible to repairs: not during the renting process and not afterwards. It might be an error on our part for not asking, but it doesn't change the fact that the hotel staff should alert us of these things. If you must rent a motorbike from them (and you probably should, as they are quite remote from any city center), always ask about motorbike repairs costs 3) Mismanagement of refund - We had an item on check out that we did not order to our room (gin & tonic), costing 200 baht. We asked to remove that item, but instead we got a partial refund of 100 baht, while the extra 100 baht was used to pay for gasoline on our newly provided motorbike - even though we barely used the motorbike and have not driven far distances VERY DISAPPOINTING

Amazing view, atmosphere feels like at home because of the owner and his kitten. Good breakfast with everything you need in the morning. Great pool and spacious room. You should be ready to have a short walk on a very high climb to the point where a taxi can grab you.

Amazing villa atop a mountain in Koh Samui. phenomenal view with two pools, taxi service, and food service (Fred and his wife can taxi and prepare food upon request but at their availability). We stayed in unit B8, which we argue is the best villa because it has a pool, mountain and ocean view, and it’s on the 2nd level so you have privacy. The biggest downside is also the reason why it’s so phenomenal, which is being on mountain side. It’s difficult to get off the mountain unless you know how to scooter steep (I mean very steep) hills and can drive on the left side of the road. If you’re from North America this makes it very difficult and leaves you the option to ask Fred or his wife, or call a taxi. If asking Fred you’re at the behest of his availability and if you call a taxi you most likely will have to walk up the steep hill just so the taxi can reach you, but note not all taxi’s will drive up the mountain.

The property was very unique and well kept. I usually do not book boutique stays but was pleasantly surprised. Clean room, clean towels, quiet/secluded location. staff were extremely accommodating. I would not say I did not like this but it’s something for people looking to stay to be aware of. As in other reviews, this location is where locals call the mountain and as such, taxis will try to charge you more for the ride and not every vehicle is able to get there — 90% of taxis will take you so nothing you should worry of. To get to the main road you are needing to to explore, you will first need to get past a very steep hill. we rented a scooter from the hotel and they were kind enough to drive it past the steepest part of the hill for us so we would have no issues.

Amazing views, staff...everything

Friendly host....very easy to hire moped onsite and taxi to hand.....well stocked fridge in room. Lots of space. We LOVED the view from our room....B7 Steep hill to access....but the views are worth it. Noise from jet wash cleaning.
