Great location a short walk from Kyoto Station, helpful staff, good facilities (e.g. laundry room), great breakfast (Western and Japanese options). Maybe have one more washing machine

Convenient location near the train station and all the sites.

The property was neat, clean staff were fantastic. Very helpful. Spoke really good English. Nothing really I can say bad about it. Very minor issue was maybe the bed was a bit too hard but that’s if I’m being picky and TV casted in Japanese language, even with pairing my phone to the TV, my YouTube played in Japanese

Excellent location with accessibility ,polite and helpful staff ,lots of food options around. It's hardly 5mins walk to the Kyoto station and main bus terminal . Highly smooth check in and check out experience. Only breakfast available. Restaurant closes after 10am .

the smell at the lobby

Close to train station Room was drab and could use an update. Bathroom as well. Very basic. Breakfast was terrible. Poor selection and poor quality. Paid in advance for 3 breakfasts and never returned after the first one.
-
Nice hotel close to Kyoto station . Rooms are little smaller compared to USAbut nice and clean.
-
Typically small rooms and bathroom although great toilets and shower pressure and hot water felt a little like a trailer.

The staff were excellent every time I dealt with them. very polite and helpful and acknowledged me every time I came into reception. The baggage storage service was excellent and very efficient. The options re when my room was cleaned were helpful. It would be more convenient to book my breakfast to my room and pay on exit not every time I wanted to go to breakfast.

I acknowledged my mistake of booking a smoking room instead of non-smoking room. I'm not a smoker and can't handle the smell, and asked if I could check out early since they did not have any rooms available. Staff was helpful and offered solutions, such as room spray, opening a window, or renting a fan, but I ultimately decided to not stay. I apologized for booking the wrong room and I would be checking out. Instead of continuing with the process of checking out, staff tried to get me to stay and REPEATEDLY asking for literally 20-30 minutes. I felt like they were pressuring me to stay and didn't want to let me check out (they had my room key at this point, so i couldn't check out myself) They offered a partial refund (which I have not received)

Staff was very polite and friendly

Clean, and comfortable. Decent amount of space as well! No fan in bathroom, and breakfast was not good at all. We decided to buy breakfast elsewhere after having it our first morning. It’s the one area that needs updating eggs were a weird texture and smelly like old fish there was a lot wrong with the breakfast. 3 machines available and one was out of order the entire stay.

There are other locations/parts of the city I would recommend for people spending more time in Kyoto.

Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto-Hachijoguchi is a 5-min walk from Kyoto Station. My booking came with the breakfast option which had a good selection and options. The room was comfortable and clean with amenities provided. All in all, I enjoyed my 3-night stay here.

This was a good hotel to stay at. It is 5min walk to Kyoto main JR train station. There are convenience stores all around, it has coin laundry . I had been traveling around Japan in a camper van and it had parking available next to hotel for ¥1700 yen a night. Worth it, downtown Kyoto. The room had only one USB port on the wall side, not a convenient place. It did not even work. They should have a plug you can plug into plug on other side of bed where you can move the mini table
-
Was not a surprise, so nothing to dislike, just to be prepared - the room and bed are quite small, so can get cramped if travelling with a lot of luggage. There is no space to unpack for example. We were out all day and needed a functional space to rest at night which it was.
-
Have a designated smoking area in the parking lot instead of right at the hotel entrance. Made the lobby smell terrible and health hazard to everyone.
-
Really nice hotel located just minutes away from the station. Our room was confortable and lovely, and the staff nice and friendly. A lot of restaurants nearby, as well as convenience stores. I likeed they had fruits and mochi for breakfast. As most of the clients we saw at the breakfast were Europeans, the hotel could adapt a bit the breakfast with more European options. I was surprised to see that they had margarine instead of butter for breakfast, which is a bit cheap, in my view. It was the only hotel we saw that during the trip.
