The location was absolutely perfect. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the dinner and breakfast were delicious. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay. We'll be back!! Thank you, Rangetsu!

Nothing !!! For nothing in the world this place is worst, what they ask per night is ridiculous!! Facilities are old , stains on the wall and furnitures , the vibe feels like you are in an army camp , you have no bed in your room from 8:30 am till after dinner , staff not fun at all , I just feels like I got scammed honestly , supposed to get there for 2 days during my birthday and I had to shorten my trip and leave after the first night , I have no ideas why this hotel has been so well rated honestly !!! Best advice !! Don’t do it !!

Location, staff and food. Attention to detail is great and staff were very helpful. A bit too expensive for the space

Beautifully maintained building, gardens. Traditional Japanese foods, friendly and welcoming staff. Nothing

This was an unforgettable stay at a top class ryokan. The meals were divine, creative and Michelin grade. The rooms were minimalistic but had a beautiful view. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond. I know the tatami mats are traditional to Japanese inns but it was very uncomfortable and I didn’t sleep well. I wish there was an option for a thicker mat or some kind of upgrade.

Beautiful room

Excellent location. Impeccably clean. Friendly staff. Drinks have to be pre-ordered for meals. No readily available bar besides what’s in the room’s fridge.

This was an amazing stay that my wife and I loved. The food, amenities, room, tub, and people were all top notch. The location is perfect and there’s such a tranquility to Arashiyama in the early morning and late evening. Service was exceptional and they do so well to make you feel at home. I want to preface this with some context that we understand and respect the cultural and traditional history of this practice, but were nonetheless a bit taken aback by it and not expecting it.. for one of our dinners we were given ikezukuri (活け造り), a still moving spiny lobster, and it was a bit unsettling for my wife and I. We appreciate that this is a high end sign of freshness, but we would have requested against this presentation if offered and perhaps an option for that for foreign tourists would be prudent. Again, we don’t fault the hotel for this and understand the cultural significance of it and appreciate their immense hospitality.

This was the my first time staying at a Ryokan and Rangetsu will be hard to top. It's located in a beautiful area in Arashiyama right along a river. Everything was immaculately clean and the staff were super warm and welcoming. The food was also incredible. A great place to take a break from the bustle of the city. I would absolutely recommend staying here. Thanks Rangetsu!!

Outstanding service, truly incredible Japanese breakfasts, lovely onsen, and a beautiful, peaceful space. It’s very expensive but worth the splurge for a zen experience.

Location was amazing, just around the corner from the main road in Arashiyama and perfect to wake up early to have the Bamboo Forest practically to yourself. Staff were very friendly and polite, adding to the Ryokan experience. They provided us with informative information, and prepared the room perfectly for us. The room itself was amazing and spotless. We had a private onsen with an incredible view overlooking the river. Experience was perfect.

Everything was absolutely breathtaking and the service was truly exceptional. I wish we could've stayed longer. One of the biggest highlights of our Japan trip. The food was also amazing, I strongly recommend the kaiseki style dinner.
