It was really nice actually! It was even bigger than I imagined, way bigger than the one I booked in Tokyo. The staff was really nice and helpful, microwaving our Lawson food, and giving us directions to some landmarks. There wasn’t an elevator or lift, we had to carry our luggage to our room, that wasn’t so satisfying. Also, the location wasn’t the best, it was pretty far from a lot of landmark and shopping malls.

We loved staying at this hotel! The staff was wonderful, accommodating, and incredibly helpful with recommendations and transportation around the area. They made our stay even more enjoyable. We will definitely stay here again!

This place was spacious for 4 people (2 parents/2 grown kids)with very comfortable beds! The espresso coffee machine and cold water bottles each day was a treat! The staff were friendly, helpful and spoke Japanese and English. The property was about a 15 min walk into town- which we didn’t mind as it was close enough but for some might be too far out of the main area. We actually liked not being with all the tourists.

The location was fantastic; walk to Ichitani Munataka-Jinja shrine, Horin-ji temple, Arashiyama monkey park, restaurants, bamboo forest. The junior suite was the definition of simple luxury. Excellent for our family of 4. We opted for the included breakfast which was delicious. Staff were kind and incredibly helpful.

The hotel was great. The staff was friendly and helpful when we had questions. There was free water, coffee, and hot chocolate in the reception area. The room was amazing and there was a handwritten note welcoming us, which was a nice touch. The room was big and clean. The bathroom was big and spacious and there was a full bathtub to have a bath. The toiletries were top notch- from Public Organic. We all enjoyed using them because the aromatherapy helped with relaxation. The beds and futons were very comfortable and we all slept well. The hotel provided breakfast, but we did not try it. However, we had friends that stayed there at the same time as us and had breakfast- they said it was very good. There were only two downsides. First, there is is not a comfortable seating area where you can sit and watch TV. The room needs a small couch or comfortable chairs to sit in to relax. Second, the hotel is located in the Arashiyama area. Because it's not a central area, it took a lot more time to get around Kyoto. This being said, I would not hesitate to stay here again! If you want a nice quiet place to stay, don't hesitate to book this place. There was no comfortable place to sit and relax while watching TV.

A beautiful, huge room. Very friendly staff and a warm inviting lobby. Location with a lot of sightseeing and restaurants close by.
-
Big, convenient room. Our children loved it! The staff were very friendly and kind. A bit noisy (road noise)
-
It's a little far from the Saga-Arashiyama station - plan to take a taxi.
-
Poor coffee. Bed pillows small and flat.
-
Excellent staff. Free coffee, water, chocolate and tea drinks. Traditional Japanese style rooms that were clean and cozy. Short walk to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. No washing machine in rooms.
-
So comfortable and calm! A little too far from the restaurants and places to visit on Arashiyama, but just a little is a great walk to see all the nature and beauty of Arashiyama!

Love it.

Rooms had a traditional Japanese feel yet modern. Staff were exceptionally responsive and helpful. Located near Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, it had a suburban and quiet feel. Free drinks from bottled water to coffee and tea all day long. Laundry onsite. Best of all it’s reasonably priced. Only one laundry machine - competitive if lots using it. As it’s in a quiet suburban area, restaurants opens late and closes early (majority closes by 6p).

The rooms were really spacious and clean, they had the right amount of comfort and utility. The staff were amazing and helping us through the stay and holding on to our baggage on the day we checked out. Arashiyama is further from the city but to be honest it's really a good deal compared to city prices, paying for the bus / train is cost effective if you want a place to rest and comfortable. Nothing in particular, everything was up to date and well kept.

The staff are very helpful, very good location, and the rooms is spacious.
-
Beautiful room, great hot tub in room, easy to walk to all attractions.
-
Very clean, and the junior suite was the perfect size for two people. The staff went above and beyond, adding thoughtful personal touches that made the stay feel special. The parking is a bit far from the property. I recommend dropping off your luggage first before parking so you don’t have to carry everything the full distance.

Arashiyana is a tourist destination but with a small town feel. The town is surrounded by a river/ mountains/ parks and several temples. It is great getaway if you like the outdoors and at the same time you are 20 minutes or so way from downtown Kyoto. If you are staying longer than 2 days in Kyoto and enjoy the outdoors, I would recommend staying in Arashiyana as you home base . The grand west is a combination Lodge with spacious room ( mini apartment) and very friendly staff. Rooms are Japanese style:) The only thing I would suggest was to have the hand wash shower closer to the bath tub. There was not really an enclosed shower area with a door. It would have been nice to have an enclosed area for the hand held shower.

Clean and convenient to train station and attractions. Helpful and friendly staff.
