Only slight drawback was having to give the key to the desk every time I left

Loved my room and the location. Super nice staff also. The breakfast was a bit different for my western palette.

Nothing The property is locked from midnight to 5:00 a.m., a major restriction that was not clearly disclosed before booking. Because I had an early flight, I was concerned about reaching the airport on time and was forced to leave the property at 11:55 p.m. to ensure I would not miss my flight. The property did not match the impression created by the photos, the breakfast was disappointing, and I found the owner’s attitude aggressive and unwelcoming when I raised concerns about my flight and transportation arrangements. Important restrictions and conditions should be clearly disclosed before guests make a reservation.

Hotel looked clean at first glance but we were told after they only clean rooms one every three days in your stay When we first arrived at the hotel, we were completely soaked from the rain. It was around 1:30 pm, and since we were very wet, we asked if it would be possible to use our room if it was ready. We were initially told that the room wasn’t ready yet, which we understood and accepted. However, shortly after, we were told that we could do an early check-in only if we paid an extra fee. To be honest, we were quite shocked, as we were in a really uncomfortable situation due to the rain, and under normal circumstances we would not have asked for early check-in. We were quite frustrated and decided not to accept it. About 10 minutes later, they said we could enter without any payment. After that, they also explained their hotel policies, including a strict rule that guests must arrive before midnight; otherwise, they are not allowed to enter the hotel. The entrance is also locked between 12 am and 5 am. One night, even though we arrived before 11:50 pm, the hotel door was already locked. We rang the bell several times, and even though the staff could see us, they didn’t open the door immediately. We started recording a video to show that we had arrived on time, and after about 7–8 minutes, they finally let us in. Honestly, it was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. It didn’t reflect the Japanese reputation for hospitality at all, and instead of making the trip relaxing, it added unnecessary stress.

The hotel was absolutely stunning. The room was big and the bathroom/tub was amazing. The staff were incredibly welcoming to international guests and spoke excellent English. Kohei-san assisted with my check-in and patiently answered every question I had. I highly recommend this hotel to people The breakfast was only ok

The midnight curfew does affect travel plans, if you plan on trying the night life.

Other than that the host was very hospitable and kind. Would definitely recommend! The 'curfew' hours were a little limiting (hotel closes down after 12am so we had to be back before that time), but it was mentioned upfront so we were not surprised.

quiet area, nice place, very clean. the beds, a little uncomfortable and could use another pillow. leaving the key at the front every time you leave was a little bit of a hassle but not terrible.

My wife and I loved our stay at Wanosato Kyoto Musee. The location is very close to all of the main attractions in town and the walks around the neighborhood are peaceful and enjoyable. Our room was clean and we loved the wooden bath tub. Next time we are in the area we would definitely stay at Wanosato Kyoto Musee again!

Note that there is a curfew of midnight. This may be a temporary issue but the surface of the walls in our room seemed unfinished: everytime my clothes brushed up against the walls, the walls left white powder on my clothes, like chalk or plaster. It didn't damage my clothes but it was slightly concerning.
