The baths were nice! And not very strict with the tattoo rule that most inns usually have with baths. I ordered the kaiseki and it had good variety for dinner and very filling breakfast! Staff was very welcoming and helpful. It’s off a pretty busy district so there’s a lot of sounds from the outside. If you need to go to Kyoto station it’s not the closest but not a far walk from another train station.

Perfect location and really lovely staff! A very big Japanese breakfast. The building is a bit tired and you the beds are not comfortable. Also note they only serve Japanese breakfast, no western options available, except the free coffee machine in lobby.
-
The location is not too distant from city centre, and is good particularly for exploring the Gion and Kawaramachi neighbourhoods. The breakfasts and dinners are good, especially the sukiyaki dinner.

Disappointing

Spacious rooms with traditional interior including tatami. lovely alkove with windows and nice wooden chairs. Fantastic location opposite temple area and short distance to major sights A bit noisy next to big street. Futon was charming but just too hard for my body

Traditional food for breakfast and dinner meant trying lots of new things, staff were friendly, room was spacious, free coffee downstairs.

Location was amazing. Was definitely 3* accommodation, but clean, good public bath, but very overpriced. No recommendations from staff on places to eat or things to do.

I loved our room, the Japanese feel with the sliding door and tatami mats. I especially loved our little sun room, the amazing water pressure in the shower, and how much space there was. I also loved the public baths and used them most nights instead of my private room bath. The staff was incredible, they were so kind and went above and beyond to welcome us and help us whenever we needed. They treated us to matcha when we arrived, left Japanese sweets in our room each day, and made a small origami crane for us to bring with us for good luck. We carried the crane with us the whole trip, we loved it! Also, the location was unbeatable! We were in walking distance to the main street, Maruyama park, and many of our destinations, and we were right next to a bus stop for those destinations that weren't in walking distance. The inner corridors of the property didn't feel traditional or beautiful, just like an average building you could find anywhere in the world, but the guest rooms themselves were wonderful.

Breakfast was great—very calm and peaceful way to start the day. The food was delicious and plentiful.

what an authentic wonderful experience i will never forget!

They really try to make you feel welcome and the service is second to nowhere. Food was amazing, but I really like Japanese food. The building is a bit old so if you like brand new places then this won’t be for you. But I thought the building and style were charming. I loved the food but it may not suit kids and picky eaters.

We loved the ryokan! The experience is amazing. The staff, the rooms (with a very nice view, the food (served in our room), we loved it!! Definitely worth the stay in Kyoto. Just a little pricy, in my opinion

Our stay was absolutely AMAZING! The highlight was undoubtedly the exquisite kaiseki dinner. The way they meticulously prepared each course right in our room was an experience in itself. Despite having a lively 1-year-old with us, the staff were incredibly patient and accommodating, ensuring we could enjoy the meal without any stress. The food was everything we hoped for—authentic, traditional, and absolutely delicious. We were excited for the kaiseki experience when we booked the hotel, and it did not disappoint! Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed, providing the perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The staff went above and beyond, from warmly welcoming us to thoughtfully preparing our bed at night. Their friendliness and attentiveness truly made our stay special. The location was ideal, just across from Yasaka Shrine and within a short 3-5 minute walk to convenient bus stops, making it easy to explore the area. I honestly can't find a single fault in our stay. My only regret? Not staying longer. We would absolutely love to return! Our stay at the hotel was overall fantastic, but I have a couple of small notes for future guests. The pillows were a bit on the firm side, which may not suit everyone’s preference. Also, be aware that there is an additional charge of ¥1000 for a children's Yukata, which we weren't expecting. That being said, these are minor details, and they didn't detract from the wonderful experience we had overall. Would definitely stay here again!

The experience of staying in a traditional Japanese ryokan was fantastic. The staff were amazing. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed a different dining experience each evening. The food was plentiful and very tasty, served by lovely ladies wearing traditional dress.

The room was very spacious and clean. The temperature and light control was excellent. The location was the very best. We were across the street from a beautiful shrine and temple along with amazing local shops and restaurants. The room was concealed enough away to restrict excess morning light and wake up slowly and easily. The cleaning service was very punctual. The staff were very accommodating and hospitable. The public baths were clean and comfortable. Free snacks were refreshed every day. The Bidet and toilet did not fit well into the bathroom. We were not able to reserve meals for in house dining for breakfast or dinner. The views were not particularly special from the room.

Food was delicious and the service was impeccable. They allowed for baggage holding even after we checked out. Staff was so lovely. Very convenient location to see the temples on the East side (there was the Gion festival going on!). Shops were nearby. The room was very spacious. The experience was unbeatable A little bit of an inconvenience to drop off and pick up the keys to the room each time you leave and when you come back. Also a bit far away from the closest train station. We didn't find out until later on that you aren't allowed any large luggage on the bus to reach and leave the location.

The stay here was extraordinary. Amazing friendly service, in room massages, top floor bath, incredible spread of foods for dinner and breakfast. It’s also conveniently located near historic Kyoto. We stayed one night, which was perfect for us. N/a
