we had to leave, extremely ragidy, and not clean, thin mattresses right on the floor, extremely uncomfortable, spending $800 is a rip off for a place like a hostel did not match any of the on line description, but the staff was very nice, polite and understanding

We came to see traditional accomodation and that’s what we got. The japanese garden at the back is so beautiful.

The breakfast was amazing, we had dinner there too which was so special. the koi pond is so wonderful. The staff in every interaction were so freindly and helpful. Nothing. Everything was great; it was our favorite place to stay in Japan.

None Let’s stop buying into this pretentious 'culture is everything'. This hotel is massively overrated. When there’s unflushed toilet paper from the previous guest in the bowl, when the power is so weak it can’t even charge a phone overnight, and when your staff are joking around in the back office completely ignoring guests ringing the front desk bell to death—you have absolutely zero right to preach about 'culture' or 'tradition'

It is located in a beautiful part of Kyoto, away from the hustle and bustle. Close walk to amazing Nanzen-ji temple. Absolutely breathtaking! M Stand across the street has great coffee and simple delicious breakfast. It is a little dated for the price

The room was clean and the staff very kind. We were on the second floor with a private bathroom. The photos on the website are deceptive as they are not from the hotel as much as from the restaurant. (Make sure to reserve the restaurant in advance if you want to eat there. ) It is just a hotel styled in Japanese ryokan. Don’t forget the city tax will have to be paid at checkout.

I loved how they gave you such a wonderful experience. You could reserve the bathroom for private use. They removed and remade the beds for us during the day while we were out. There was soft serve ice cream and coffee available in the main rooms. Everyone was very nice! No complaints. Very happy.

I am 64, so the futons were a little hard on my back. I slept well, but I am better with a little softer bed--but this was the experience my daughter really wanted so it was a good stay.

Very easy location, central yet not in business district. Very thoughtful and friendly staff. Worked well with children. Food was delicious with view of private garden. Options of Japanese or Western breakfast. Comfortable futons and relaxing rooms.

Everything about the experience we had here was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, we were shown great hospitality and care from staff, and the amenities and facilities were incredible. The breakfast and dinner sets were some of the best food we had while in Japan, and the private onsen was an incredible first-time experience. The unlimited ice-cream and massage chairs were a highlight as well! Honestly, everything was perfect. The rooms were spacious and clean, the futon beds were comfortable, and the food was delicious. No faults!

Very beautiful and traditional Ryokan style hotel. The garden in the back is stunning and makes the perfect backdrop for a peaceful traditional Japanese style breakfast. The onsen was relaxing and the free ice cream and sake and massage chairs were a nice touch. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. The location is also ideal with close walking distance to many temples and the Philosopher's Path. I highly recommend it If you are looking for a modern hotel this is not it, but that's the whole point. It still has modern amenities, but the reason I picked it is for the traditional style.

My husband and I loved our stay in this traditional-style ryokan so much! We very much enjoyed our room (especially the private onsen) and both the Japanese and Western style breakfasts offered each morning. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful as well.

The property itself was nice and had a good atmosphere, but unfortunately the experience was completely ruined by the staff’s behavior. Water in toilet was cut 11 am due to check out time to make pressure on us to leave exactly 11 am

The food, atmosphere and service was all excellent. I really appreciated the service from when I got to the room for the first time, as well as how accommodating they were for my non existent Japanese knowledge.
