Nazuna Kyoto Tsubaki St.

The kindness and hospitality of the staff! One of the gals that spoke with me at my check in made Me an amazing hair clip after I told her I have loved being here and in fact just had about 12 inches of my hair cut off in a hair cut in Kyoto. I loved the short look and she agreed. So thoughtful to make me two Barrett's that were absolutely gorgeous. Genuinely nice people working at this property!

This hotel was absolutely amazing. The suite was equipped with personalized check-in with a sweet treat and small tea. The fully stocked mini bar with variety of beverage options was a very nice addition. The staff was incredibly attentive during conversation in the common lounge area near the front desk and surprised us with a small gift based on knowing what local items we enjoyed. The beds were very comfortable. The location is definitely outside of the city but close enough if you like a long walk and inexpensive to take a taxi. We loved our experience with the breakfast that was a very short walk from our room. I even purchased the reed diffuser that smelled so good in many common areas of the main part of the hotel. I absolutely loved the plunge pool/tub outside of the main bathroom.

Absolutely spectacular in every way. Just outstanding. Some of the kindest staff, incredible food, and lovely accommodations I’ve ever experienced. We were simply blown away. Staying here was literally a prime highlight of our trip.

The outdoor tub was nice We moved after the first night - the rooms were not functional for 2 people. The bed took the entire space and you had to do a stepping stone to get into the bath. The upstairs was not very comfortable so there was no place to relax in your room.

Beautiful room with charming environment. The outdoor private spa was so relaxing. The room was modern and clean with so many amenities. Free drinks and snacks were so nice! The Japanese breakfast was delicious. Every staff member was so nice and helpful. The bedroom and living space were on separate floors. It was charming but there was not enough space in the bedroom for our luggage. We didn’t want to lug the bags up the stairs so that was a little tricky.

Breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety. The dinner was memorable and interesting, with lots of different presentations of wagyu beef. (Worth only doing once though.) Staff were super friendly and helpful. I loved the private bathtub, very comfortable and fun. The room layout was shockingly bad, bordering on dangerous for some people. There's ~18" of clearance between the bed and the wall. As a middle-aged able-bodied person, I was fine to navigate this and balance carefully, but this would be quite bad for a lot of folks. It would be *very* difficult for some people to get into the far end of the bed. I almost fell a couple times, and the exposed concrete stone was aesthetically pleasing but the edges were fairly sharp. There was barely enough space in the room to place only one suitcase, so the second one we placed in the bathroom, which felt downright silly. I've never been in a hotel where I needed to store my suitcase in a bathroom for lack of space, let alone one I paid >$1k/night for. There was a fan in the bathroom that couldn't be turned off. It hummed noisily, and closing the door didn't fully mute the noise. Finally, all the lights were motion-activated and can't be controlled manually, which sounds nice, except when it's the middle of the night and you're trying to limit the brightness in the room while using the bathroom, and then you're stuck with glaring bright lights. I've been to some truly wonderful ryokans that were worth every penny, but this one ain't it. It was breathtakingly expensive for a surprisingly poor and cramped experience.

I had such an amazing Christmas here at Nazuna Kyoto Tsubaki St. The food was delicious at the restaurant located at the hotel, as well as the room service! I truly enjoyed my time here while I was visiting Kyoto solo for the first time! I felt so relaxed and happy with my experience, and will be recommending this hotel for anyone looking to stay in Kyoto! It was a bit of a walk to major tourist spots but I enjoyed every minute of that walk as the beauty of Kyoto can be properly enjoyed and seen by walking around the city! ???

The second night's dinner was not nearly as good. Drink purchase requirement was tacky, should have been included. Only 1 night's dinner should be required for multi-night stays.

Nazuna Kyoto Tsubaki St. is a stunning stay that blends traditional Kyoto charm with modern comfort. The serene machiya-style design and lantern-lit walkways create a beautiful, calming vibe (great photo opportunities). Our room was cozy yet felt spacious, with thoughtful touches like sleepwear and a private bath. Everything was spotless and felt luxurious, from the ambience to the quality bedding. Breakfast is offered in either Japanese or Western style (I recommend the Japanese set) and was incredibly fresh and delicious. There’s also a relaxing upstairs lounge near reception with snacks and light refreshments— perfect for chilling before heading out or unwinding before heading upstairs to bed. The staff were warm, attentive, and spoke excellent English. The location is convenient yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful. Although the stay is on the pricier side, the experience and service definitely justifies it. A perfect mix of tradition and quiet luxury — highly recommend. The townhouse is two stories, so if you’re travelling with heavy luggage or have mobility issues, going upstairs to the sleeping area might be slightly inconvenient. However, there’s plenty of room downstairs in the small lounge area to store luggage.

The property is like taking a step into another beautiful dimension. Aesthetically, it’s stunning. The staff is attentive and charming. And the amenities are lovely. Check in was a little cumbersome. It felt like there was some disorganization because we arrived early. Our name was checked three times and then I was asked so it other names. So a little odd?

The two story rooms felt spacious and luxurious, with the best part of course being the attached private onsen. Locations is perfectly central too, while being just a bit outside of the tourist craziness to provide a little peace and calm. Nothing! From the rooms to the staff to the location, everything was perfect!

The rooms were zen & restful, especially the beautiful private outdoor onsen. My daughter was not allowed to visit at all. She's an exchange student staying an hour away. Had I known this, I would have chosen another place.

Elegant, clean, and beautiful. The staff is professional and friendly.

Bath was nice, seemed clean. Decent area to stay. A lot of the extra amenities were constantly out of stock and had to be asked for. Everything was seemed pricey compared to what you actually received.

Everyone was very nice and understanding of any requests. Very patient too!

We loved how courteous the staff was and the room was so beautifully maintained. Everything we could have wanted was presented to us with little effort and we would love to do a special thank you to staff member Kai. He was very attentive and helpful. There was a little hair left in the bath probably from the last guest. We mentioned it to the staff and the fixed it promptly.
