Rakuten STAY URBAN Shijo Teramachi

The rooms are modern, clean and large. The hotel is just a 5 minute from Nishiki Market and a 10 minute walk from Gion. There are many good restaurants nearby and there are two grocery stores next door. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Overall, it was a great experience and I will certainly stay here again when I return to Kyoto.

Great location, convenient, allowed luggage storage, clean, perfect for our family. The hotel name is not updated in Google Maps, and there is another Rakutan Stay Urban hotel with almost the exact same name. We originally went to the wrong location and had to take a 2nd taxi with all of our luggage which was frustrating.

I found the room to be spacious enough for the 2 of us. Overall, the space of the room was the highlight. My friends and I also find the room to be very clean and enjoyed our stay in Kyoto. There were also a few stores eg Family Mart, 100 yen shop and a ramen place near us, making the stay even more convenient! Within a 5 minute walking distance, we are able to reach the main shopping / food streets as well. NIL

The location is great, 5 min walk from the subway with lots of shops and restaurants. Cleanliness was very off. Our room had a funny smell and it gave me lots of allergies every time I entered. The carpet looked dirty. The pillows are very uncomfortable as well as the mattress.

The location was perfect for our trip, especially exploring around Kyoto because it is near the station and popular spots. None. I just wished we had a bathtub to relax after the long day of walking around the City. But for the price, it was really reasonable.

Great stay, amazing location! Easy connected to Kyoto Station, but also walkable to main sights in Gion + shopping/food streets. The staff was nice and helpful especially to weigh our suitcases after the stay. Bathroom was a highlight! - Bad wifi - The bed itself was comfy, but the pillow situation was a bit weird. We asked for different pillows after the first night, but also the new ones we received were weirdly heavy + hard to sleep on. So we slept in a mix of the hotel pillow + a blanket they provided. The staff really tried to help, but they just didn't have any "normal pillow". Never had this "complaint" before in my life and this is surely subjective, but we found it worth mentioning

The location was a little far away from major sight seeing areas, but with transit available, it's not a big issue whatsoever.

The location The room was very clean but it smelled of transpiration. Not enough to make a fuss, but disagreeable every time I walked in.

Staff was super helpful in managing my request to shorten my stay. A lot. The place is pretty ran down, yes sheets and toilets are clean, carpet was quite dirty and stained. Common areas have funky smell (lobby, lift and hallway), and place is quite worn out. The pictures in booking did not represent the current state of the property. Also it was pretty pricey during high season, which imho does not justify.

Location Too small ,

The hotel is close to Kyoto’s main shopping street and has everything you need around. Close enough to rail and bus stations so the you can go to all the attractions and must see sites in the city. It’s clean, comfortable and the staff are friendly and welcoming. There’s no real breakfast, it’s more of a to go box with salads and some cold cut.
