I really liked the hotel. It was very nice. The rooms were large with a beautiful ensuite and comfortable beds. The inclusive breakfast was lovely and the happy drinks were very kind and generous. The staff were lovely also. I didn’t like the camera in the lounge that moved to watch you everytime you moved around. I found that uncomfortable and creepy. I understand why you have a camera, but put it in the corner that does not move around.

The General Kyoto was a very warm and welcoming hotel, with very friendly English-speaking staff. The free drinks and snacks in the afternoon/evening was a lovely addition to a very professional and upscale experience altogether. It was in a really great location close to shops, restaurants, train stations and bus stops. Nothing, it was really lovely.

Great location! Very friendly staff. Great breakfast and free happy hour in the evenings. They even had a freezer with frozen sweet treats.
-
Decent size rooms, nice staff, not too far from the historic center. Old not very clean carpet. Limited breakfast choices.

Breakfast should contain at least one option with eggs such as an omelette

* Excellent bathroom layout, with the shower, toilet, and sink in separate areas * Very comfortable bed * Good breakfast: you choose a time slot, the main meal is prepared for you, and drinks, bread, and other items are available buffet-style. Although the variety is not extensive and changes little from day to day, everything is high quality, fresh, and very tasty * The lounge (7:00–10:00 PM) is fantastic, offering drinks and snacks—perfect for relaxing and having a light meal at the end of the day * Comfortable and super quiet room * The location is excellent—close to shops, restaurants, and major attractions, yet tucked away from the busiest and noisiest areas, offering a more peaceful stay * Excellent pajamas provided every day * Good amenities, including a quality toothbrush, toothpaste, and razor * The room window cannot be opened and is frosted, which makes it impossible to see outside * Hair dryer is weak * The toilet seat is not heated, although it does include a bidet function * Despite the blackout curtains, the room does not become completely dark. Light sleepers may want to bring an eye mask

The hotel was in a great area The rooms were large and super comfortable The staff was very helpful very keep to help in any way they could Loved the facility of the lounge made it easy for a snack coffee and a beer I would be back to same hotel when I come back to Kyoto Fully recommend

The location What I hated the most about the property was the lack of windows to look through. I don’t know if it was lost in translation because one person, at the front desk, told me all the rooms were like that and another said no. I wanted to change rooms but was told the hotel was fully booked. The windows are frosted over. No one had mentioned this in any of the reviews. I literally went back to the room only to sleep because otherwise I felt so claustrophobic. It really took away from my experience. The rooms were clean and the people helpful but I think that’s something that should be highlighted. I would never book a room with a window that I can’t see through. Also, the window blinds did not come down and so we couldn’t sleep in if we wanted to

The room was comfortable and the small hotel is quiet. The location was good and accessible to public transit. It was great to have the lounge to drop in for a drink, coffee & snacks. On-site laundry was a bonus.
-
The hotel is beautiful and cozy, breakfast was ok for a couple of days, but since we stayed there for a week, it felt a bit repetitive (as they don’t offer hot options like egg). Staff was really nice! We loved the lounge area at nights, as they offer free refreshments and snacks!
-
Central. Very comfortable. Breakfast delicious. Staff polite, very helpful. Always someone who spoke English on desk. Nothing.
-
The facilities were beautiful and modern- comfortable and elegant. An excellent value! One crushing flaw: the sumptuous popsicles do tantalizingly made available for mere minutes of the day so violently and cruelly rug pulled thereafter. I would gladly pay higher rates if that’s what’s keeping the popsicle bar closed! Please, do not lock your popsicles behind austere institutional walls.

Great location, good breakfast, accommodating allergies/food restrictions, too. Staff was very friendly, rooms very spacious and nice.

A hotel to which I always look forward to returning

Fresh and healthy breakfast, clean and stylish interior, great location for the metro, the food market and more. Safe area, even after dark.

The hotel was very clean and the room was very comfortable. They had all the amenities we needed. the staff was very courteous and friendly. I loved the traditional room style. The breakfasts were delicious. The lounge hours with the happy hour, green tea on the weekends, and great snacks were much appreciated. The closet space is very limited. Would have been nice to have more hangers and shelves. But we were able to manage.
