Tsubame-ya - Hostel

Property was really comfortable nice at a good location had numerous restaurants and supermarkets nearby . Had a really good kitchen .very colorful building very attractive The only thing that can be improved is make your room a bit of more value , you can simply add mirror for startups some tissues and some water in fridge or some towels for free not by charging .

The two ladies were extremely friendly and helpful. At one point they spent 30 minutes trying to help me sort out a sim card I purchased.

The property is far away from the center of the town but there are tons of things to do and see in the area and also the transportation in city is efficient. I think it would be beneficial to post not only the address but also the train line, the station and what bus to take from the subway station

Very clean, warm, comfortable and welcoming staff. Close to the Arashiyama monkey park. Little far of a walk to the nearest station but very manageable.

The girls that received us were very kind, although our train got delayed and we arrived after 21 (after the check-in time). The apartment was perfect. 100% recommend it.

Called 3 hrs ahead to let them let them know we were coming at 9:15 just 15 min from the time we were supposed to check in they charged us 4800 yen and said if we need to give it to them now and I didn’t have the money then we were left there and I had to beg them to come back to let us stay there because it was late They said if we don’t pay now our whole reservation is canceled if we don’t pay late fee I didn’t have a debit card so I asked them to come back and wait til tomorrow to pay them They found square and then I paid the money I thought that was a lot for being 15 min late and threatening to cancel our reservation. I asked 3 hrs ahead if they would make an exemption for being 15 min but they wouldn’t even when we booked 2 nights Because of the stress we went through my daughter cried and I cried because it was stressful I was trying to get there as soon as possible I couldn’t pay credit card for trains so we got delayed I had to take a taxi the rest of the way there

Clean, good location, and good staff A little out of the way from downtown, but it was close to several other cool landmarks.

A narrow flight of stairs that is difficult to climb through when you have luggage with you.

not a super central location but there’s a convenient bus line a few minutes away and just 15 minutes from the train. i enjoyed being out of the main touristy area so this was good for me but if you want to be in the middle of it all i would go somewhere else

It was good for the price, a bit far from the station but still fine. Safe for female travelers.

- The owner moved us to the new location which is only 15 mins walk away from the bamboo forest. Very convenient. It was also near the train station so it was easy for us to go around and explore Kyoto - The new place was beautiful with cozy vibes! Love it! The reception and the actual place to stay were located in a different place. Therefore, at first we were a bit confused when we knew that we have to moved into another location. But overall, the owner was kind and the new place was very comfy.

Exceptional

The stay was amazing! Clean, cozy and great value for money! It's a bit out of the center of Kyoto, but since everything is so accessible with public transport it wasn't a big issue at all.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very hard it was difficult to sleep. The location was far from the city.
