Great location, walking distance to many restaurants. Washing machine at the garage/entrance; however, the dryer is not working. Clothes can be hung inside the room overnight without any issue. Self-service laundry is also available about 50 meters away. Shared bathroom facilities - separate areas for women and men. Each shower room accommodates up to 4 users at a time. If other occupants prefer not to share, you may need to wait until the room becomes available. Only available on the 2nd floor. Narrow, steep staircase, not suitable for the elderly.

Toilet locks could be better.

Location was excellent. Traditional rooms and communal (gender separated) showers.

The room was clean. Classic japanese style is very authentic and wonderful. Good option for people who want to feel the japanese vibes here. Air conditioning is very old and make a lot of dust. There is old tea pot, which is very hard to use. The sheets have some issues.

Excellent location, peaceful and quiet. The room was sparkling clean, comfortable, furnished in Japanese traditional style. The staff was friendly offering warm hospitality and sightseeing recommendations. Highly recommend!

It is well located. We had a large traditional room. I liked it. There was a washing basin. A toilet was nearby. The traditional shared Japanese bathroom/shower facility was interesting for a Westerner. I found it fine. My teenage kids didn't like the bathroom so much.

Wonderful location. Simple, clean, friendly host. Really I have no complaints, our stay was lovely. The communal 4 person shower was a surprise however didn’t end up being a problem.

Quiet and location No private bathroom

Best location in Kyoto. Almost everything was to a walking distance. Building is old and rooms could benefits of a fresh paint, but overall we loved the tatamis room experience and I would definitely go back. There was a tea set and small table with cushion as well for ceiling that was every appreciated when back from a long walking day. We were on the last floor of the hotel and there was no shower on our floor so we had to go down 4 floor to shower. That was not super convenient but that was the only thing so I would recommend this stay for sure.

So cute and nice man in the hotel, everything was clean and nice. More than you world expect from a 1 star hotel. Great

Uncle at the front desk is very nice. Location is very convenient and near to the market and tourist attractions. WIFI signal was very weak at level 5 in our room.

The owner helped us reserve ferry tickets which was greatly appreciated considering we don’t speak Japanese. The atmosphere is charming, I’d call it vintage. Having private parking onsite in this location is great. Westerners may find shared shower facilities strange. People looking to stay in brand new structures should stay elsewhere.
