Incredibly clean, and great appliances! If you’ve heard of it, they have Refa shower heads and blow dryers, and all faucets/toilets/doors are automatic. Be aware that the stairs are steep! But Shin helped me carry my luggage up and down for check in and out

This accommodation was absolutely amazing. Every detail was well thought out, everything was clean and comfortable. Communication with Mr. Shin was perfect, he was very kind and helpful during our stay. He also offered us to contact him in case of any trouble during our stay in Japan. We will definitely recommend this accommodation to people we know who are coming to Kyoto. We will definitely book this place again when we return to Japan.

The place was spotless and comfortable to stay in. All the other guests were respectful and friendly. The hostel is conveniently located, with a bus stop right out in front and takes only a 5 minute walk to a JR station. On top of all that, the owner Shin is by far the kindest and most gracious host I’ve encountered so far in my travels. He took great care to go above and beyond to make all his guests feel welcomed and taken care of. I will be staying here whenever I come back to Kyoto ? Nothing!

Clean and stylish place and very helpful host. Difficult to say, perhaps the street in front.

This place is awesome! Shin, the owner of the place, is caring and super fun, such a nice person. He makes you feel at home. He takes the time to explain and answer all your questions. The hostel is EXTREMELY clean and meticulously designed. I wish I stayed longer! I can just recommend. See you soon Shin!!

The location is very close to public transportation resources like the bus stop and metro station, which made it easy to get around. The hostel was very clean, not very crowded, and very comfortable. The staff were really nice and accommodating. And the hostel's aesthetic design was relaxing. All the amenities were new and clean too. The street was a bit busy, but that was to be expected. I was happy to have received a room with a window on the opposite side of the street. Although the rooftop could get loud from cars, it wasn't a problem because of how close the stay was to public transport. Inside the building it was not noisy.

Shin was a fantastic host - helping me throughout my stay and making me feel extremely welcome. He has fantastic English and goes above and beyond with everything he does. The room was unbelievably clean and the bed was comfortable. The shared kitchen was always spotless and had all the equipment you would need (and complimentary coffee!). While not close to the main attractions in Kyoto, the accommodation is a two minute walk from the Metro so there is no real issue.

I recently stayed 10 days at SHIN and all I can say is I was blown away by the host’s (Shin) hospitality and attention to detail. From the moment I checked in, to the moment I checked out, along with local delivery of a forgotten item, Shin had taken care of everything. The room I stayed in (bunk room) was a good size for one or two lightly packed travellers. All shared spaces were well maintained and kept spotless. Getting around is very convenient, with a JR train station 3-5 mins away, and also the city bus stop right in front of the hotel. Only thing to note, is that the stairs are a bit steep, so something to consider for those that may have difficulty getting up or down.

Special space accurately designed with maximum attention to details. Very safe and comfortable. Great kitchen with all you need and your personal drawer with glassware. Common space with video projector. I wish to watch some Japanese movie next time with other guests :) Two common bathrooms for three rooms. Never busy. Located in a local district which I personally liked as it gives you a possibility to see local vibe a bit and take a rest from tourist crowds. 15-20 minutes by bus and you are back in a melting pot. And of course the hosts… Shin and Kenichi are very sympathetic and welcoming guys. They make you accommodated and give you all the tips you need. You immediately feel like you visit friends. I really appreciated it being solo traveler in Kyoto. All the luck to you, Shin. Hope to have a possibility to come to your place again one day.

It is immaculate. It is very comfortable. Shin goes out of his way to make hi guests feel at home and to accommodate any requests. It’s a bit far from downtown, but because of that, closer to other shrines and tourist sites.

The host, Shin, was awesome. He keeps the whole hostel spotless, including the kitchen and bathroom thanks to the very regular cleaning. He went above and beyond for me during my long stay, making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. Thank you so much Shin!! The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need to cook. I especially appreciated having my own cutlery and dishes in their own drawer. The bath is amazing, long enough to properly lie down and relax in! The bed was really comfortable, and the big drawers under the bed were great for storing my clothes during my super long stay. In general the room was really good for a long stay, with a desk and a vanity so I could brush my teeth etc. without leaving the room. Also had amazing views from the window when it snowed! The location is great, with really easy access to Kyoto station and lots of bus stops. There's a really cute bakery right around the corner and lots of nice cafes within walking distance around the neighbourhood. Plus, uniqlo and daiso are right across the road! Nothing, I'll definitely be staying again next time I'm in Kyoto.

The property has been very clean, and this is the first and most important thing in a hostel. The entire hotel is very modern and full of facilities. The owner is an exceptional guy and he became my friend immediately. I strongly suggest this place!

My room was spacious and so comfortable. Very cool looking too. The shared parts of the house were cleaned daily but because the capacity is smaller it never really got dirty. It was very convenient for me. The location isn’t exactly central but there are a bus and metro stops nearby and it’s about 15min ride from the main shopping street. So not necessarily an issue!

The accommodation was beautiful, clean, and spacious. I liked the location, which was a bit remote but still a short bus ride from the touristy places. Shin, the host, is such a kind person. He runs his hostel with lots of care and is always available in case of questions. I can only recommend this place.

Loved our stay here! Interesting and well-kept space with many little conveniences. Excellent location convenient to the train, lots of restaurants and 7-Eleven within walking distance. Best of all, Shin-san was an excellent host. He gave us lots of advice on things to do, was so friendly and fun to chat with, and even washed and folded a load of laundry for us. Nothing!
