Location Its a bit cold in the room

The kitchen was very old and one of the stoves didn't work. Even the furniture in the room was worn out, would be nice to have cleaner furniture. Even though I booked the room with my bank card, they wanted me to pay upfront rather than automatic direct debit. That was inconvenient because it was not working for some reason. The staff was not very pleasant to talk to, but overall I had a great time due to the location.

Staff was friendly & helpful! Good, reasonable, onsite coin operated laundry, includes washing powder, & they have change at reception. Everything, including bedding kept sparkly clean. Kitchen well equipped. Liked the Skylight in my room so you could see the stars ✨️ Very glad there was a heater in the room as it was freezing at night. The skylight kept it warm in the day when it was sunny. Liked the location once I found it! Hard to find, not well signed ? Would have been easy if it was, or if given better directions before arrival. As it was, I was wandering around town with my bags looking for it ? Bathroom doors need adjusted so they don't slam! ?

Excellent location, great prices, friendly staff. The place smelled VERY strongly of fish curry, and the beds were old and cheap.

Never saw any staff. The closed before closing time and had many papers/keys hung up for people with names on them. Our room was good, but not the specific one we booked. It was bigger (nice) but we weren't sure if others would be joining us. We booked a room with just the four of us. Came home from dinner and someone was at the facilities with no key but a reservation. Could not find a number to call with an answer. Another guest allowed them to stay in the room as they thought there was an extra bed. The toilet and shower was one room (one for each gender). So if someone was in the bathroom, you could not shower etc.

hostel was clean, rooms were tidy and quite big facilities have seen better days, bathrooms and especially the kitchen could use an upgrade - everything was working though!

We stayed in Tekapo Backpackers for two nights. Overall we are happy with the stay and the facilities. It's good for a short stay and it has excellent location. You have to pay 5$ extra to use a towel. The only window in the room was on the ceiling and is not accessible to be opened.

Great location, even though it says shared bathroom it was a private bathroom which everyone shared which was a lovely surprise. Good wifi. Other guests were loud which made sleeping hard, beds were slightly hard.

Great central location. Staff were lovely when I interacted with them. Ok price? All the bathrooms are combined toilet and shower, and there’s only like 4 of them for multiple dorm rooms. So if 4 people are showering then you have to wait to use a toilet. Kitchen was way too small and most of the burners didn’t work. People didn’t understand to dry their dishes so there was always a pile of wet dishes and not enough pans, utensils, etc. One of my roommates was smoking outside the window/on the walkway which would blow in, despite signs saying strictly no smoking. Not ideal, as an asthmatic. I think having more staff presence (the office was across the driveway) would help with bad guest behavior.

Great location

We were grateful we were given a dorm room to ourselves. Not many people were in the kitchen. Separate bathroom for woman and each bathroom with toilet was nice. The reception was nice and friendly with smooth guidance. Great location. Only thing would be price.
