Hamnhotellet Kronan

It is not the most fancy hotel, but it is cosy. A bit on the pricey side.

Hotel is clean and comfortable and the breakfast is excellent. We have stayed many times when visiting my son and will be back again.

Ideal location. Room was huge and view was great. The balcony was a nice touch!

Solid breakfast, a little bit few choices We got a very little room, compared to the other available ones. The wifi was very week, if any. The bathroom was ice cold, there was no even possibility to warm it up.

Good sized room. Secure bike lock-up, but not sheltered from the rain. Excellent lounge area in which to sit and chat at night, with tea and coffee available. Very good breakfast. Decor a bit dated.

Basic ok The narrow bed

There is no parking available at this hotel. I was told that I needed to either park at a pay lot across the street, or free parking is available on the street. So I parked on the street next to the hotel just 50 meters from the front door. I was not told that there was street cleaning the next morning between 7-8am. Consequently, I was stuck with a $45US parking ticket when I checked out at 7:15am. The hotel could care less. The ambivalance bordering on arrogance was rude and dismissive. When I insisted on speaking with a manager, it took days to get a terse reply addressed to "Dear Mr". "Dear Mr". Not even "Dear Mr Watkins". How embarrassing! the manager couldn't even bother to spell my name!! A complete lack of any personal touch, empathy, or concern for my frustration that they should have taken some form of responsibility for my ticket. As far as I'm concerned, the management bears the full responsibility of training their front desk employees to either give a handout to guests upon checkin detailing their parking options including any restrictions within the immediate vicinity, or make sure to look at the calendar to warn them of the restrictions on the streets surrounding the hotel. They also get an F for check in because the wifi access info I was given upon checkin was incorrect, so when I got back to my room after 8pm there was no one to talk to to get the right info. There was an emergency cell number providied, but I wasn't going to call someone at 10pm for the correct wifi network info. The incomplete and inaccurate parking information given me by a hurried front desk clerk resulted in a $45US perfectly avoidable parking ticket. (or in other words, a 25% increase in my one night's stay room charge). I am astonished that they "blew me off" with no interest whatsoever in offering me even a small a discount on my room rate to offset my $45 parking penalty, and no wifi.
