Motel 6 Las Vegas, NV - Strip

I was shocked!! AND called Expedia to help with my refund, as I did not trust the staff at Motel 6 Tropicana.

For all who don’t know. This was the Howard Johnson, but if you’ve been going to Vegas a lot longer than me before the Howard Johnson, it was apart of Motel 6 as a huge property. Apparently since the last time I was in Vegas (about a year) the old Motel 6 was turned into a Studio 6 and the Howard Johnson was turned back into the Motel 6. So make sure your going to the right building because I didn’t know and the studio 6 people told me I was in the wrong place. But anyways I went to the right place which I remember when it was HJ as I stayed at both places before and I get there and the lady tells me the TV’s don’t work and I need to place $100 CASH deposit. I ended up not checking in and went somewhere else. But as a former guest of this place (remember I stayed at the first itteration of Motel 6 & when it was the HJ. This place isn’t very good, but is a good place when you want to stay in Vegas on a budget.

They had a $100 charge deposit which was not any mention on Expedia

The room smelled like weed even though it said non-smoking. The hair dryer was burnt and not working. But it is a room and you will be able to sleep and take a shower.

Wasn’t unable to check in do to an unexpected $100 unexpected cash deposit.

There is a 100$ CASH deposit. They do have an ATM on site for this transaction. However I do not remember seeing it listed when I booked which was part of the reason why I booked. The flooring in the room was a bit suspect it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks minimum. The ice machines were either missing or inoperable mostly. But for the price you pay, you cannot really expect full blown luxury I suppose.

Very dirty and people hanging out everywhere! Staff was very disrespectful. Planned to stay 3 nights but VERY unsafe feelings and environment.

It is a hotel with a pool close to the strip The TV doesn't work, the sink was clogged, and when you're greeted they tell you how they have to check your room to get your deposit back and how you cannot stay for too long which just emphasizes how seedy the hotel is. (I had a one night reservation) I couldn't wait to get out of there. I also found that they were advertising a rate that was cheaper than what I paid on Booking.com's website.

Okay for price.

The location is very central! You can walk by foot to the strip and right next to it is a Dennys. There are free parking spots available. The caution of 100$ was needed in cash. The staff was not that friendly. The people who stay there are poor people.

Location Nothing worked in the room. Manager was very rude and not on site, had to speak to her over phone.

I left my favorite suit coat in the closet after leaving for a midnight flight. I took a cab back to the motel and was told the room was locked and security had gone home. I think they room on site. Whatever. Come back tomorrow. Nothing we can do. When I pointed out I was flying out at mdnight, she was indignant I made a second request. I liked that coat. I hope they sell it to someone who needs it.
