Gran Hotel Balneario de Liérganes

I honestly don’t understand why this hotel has such a low rating — it is fantastic! The place has a wonderful old-fashioned charm, and I especially loved the collection of vintage items displayed along the corridors. The atmosphere feels authentic and unique. On top of that, the location is excellent, right in a lovely village that makes the stay even more special.

Old faded grandeur in an excellent location Food service on the bar terrace was not great I had to go and ask for condiments.

It was a beautiful old Spanish hotel. Food was lovely in the cafeteria. Practised my Spanish. An accident in Spain meant I was in a wheelchair. I did not ask for an accessible room as there are 3 of us. The bathroom door was too narrow so managed on crutches but the room was really good. Breakfast room was up 3 steps.

Location, restaurant and grounds Traffic noise

Old furniture...broken windows...broken light in the swimming pool etc

Thermal water, wellness center, rooms with balcony. Old fashioned, outdated, behind the times appearance. Poor breakfast, modest restaurant.

Staff and location were excellent. Property is beautiful. Forget about sleeping in or taking a nap, because it's SO loud. Everyone and everything make so much noise, with doors opening and closing, taking in the hallways, cars and trolleys going by outside at 7am. Noise really carries here, so it wasn't very restful. As for the thermal pool, it was cold! I couldn't stay in for the full 50 minutes I paid for in the del Rey hydromassage pool because I got too cold.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff also! Some eggs!

great location in centre of town Nice breakfast and not at all crowded which was strange as the hotel seemed very full of people Very busy and understaffed - gave up trying to get a drink as just one barman and at least 20 people queuing! Just one person on reception too so a long wait here. I think they maybe we’re not back to full strength after Covid and had perhaps not anticipated being so full.

Staff were not very accommodating. We seemed more of an inconvenience to them.

The spa, while dated, was wonderful! The treatments work and were very relaxing. English speaking staff. There were a handful that spoke a little, but they were not always present. I can be forgiving in the sense that the hotel really caters to nationals. But this is a beautiful region and should attract more foreign travelers if advertised right. I loved the area.

The property looks exceptional from the outside, good downstairs but the rooms are out dated. quality of the rooms.
