I was never able to connect to the WiFi, I don’t know why but u could never connect

This place was loud at about all hours of the day, and it wasn't necessarily from outside noise pouring in. Cleaning was loud in other rooms and other travelers were exceptionally on floors beneath us with a lot of excess noise.

I liked the location of the building. The rooms and place was very clean and there was the best pastry shop down the road! It is more of a hotel than hostel! Which is fine but there is no common space unlike other hostels where people congregate. Just keep that in mind! The WiFi didn’t work at all unless you in the lobby. Really unfortunate as a traveler.

The dorm beds are three stories–it felt a bit precarious and it meant you could feel a lot of people's movements. But it was overall fine!

    Location and room size, breakfast.

Toilets and showers small and usually not cleaned often enough

The property is located near many wonderful sights in Porto. The building has been professionally renovated and the rooms are great. Common areas are incredibly beautiful. Breakfast here is magnificent. We didnt have time to stay there longer!

    The bed

The three-story bunk beds aren't securely attached to the wall, which can be anxiety inducing. The wifi does not reach the rooms at all, and barely to the 1st floor common area.

We had a room on the third floor that had a nice balcony. One evening there was a musician singing beautifully in the park below and the sound drifted perfectly up to our room... delightful! Bed was comfortable, clean room. Maid service was appreciated. BEST part was the breakfast - SO delicious, and served by a wonderful woman who spoke so many languages. We felt right at home. Several of the outlets in the room were not usable, but there were enough (and we had a power strip) so we made it work. Being on the 3rd floor, we were in a room where a good section of the room was below the slanted roof so we could not stand. But the good well outweighed the bad, so we made due.

The bed was clean, the bathroom was clean, and there were enough bathrooms for everyone. I did go here during March, so it's not too crowded. But there are no main lights in the room, you only have individual lights. But it was comfortable. The staff were nice too. Overall a good stay! I didn't use the kitchen but it looked pretty nice, plenty cooking tools. No main light.

One sink did begin to leak while we were there, but we told the front desk and they fixed it immediately.

The location is absolutely fantastic, central to everything, the tram runs right in front of the entrance of the hotel, across the road is one of the best viewpoints of the city of Lisbon. There are fantastic restaurants and boutique shops nearby. Absolutely fantastic value and location.

Curtains by the beds might be nice

We have stayed at The Independente Suites periodically over the last 10 years. It appears ownership has changed, and with that, what was once a fun shabby chic spot to stay is now quite tired. It offers a good location but sadly not much more. The park across the street used to have a wonderful view of the city and a bit of live music. It now offers street food, outdoor seating and various musicians & music. If you do stay at The Independente, get a room on the back, be sure to pack amenities, a flashlight, but leave your expectations at home.

The lost and found isn't accessible 24/7. I left my coat and couldn't get it before my flight because the cleaning staff has the key instead of the property.

We stayed at Independente Príncipe Real and I loved it. It’s not a luxury hotel, but an authentic, charming, antique property in a great location. The staff were very responsive, and while the breakfast didn’t have much variety, everything was light and high quality. I liked everything about it
