Friendly Hills Bairro Alto - Hostel

Beautifully designed property in an easily walkable area. The rooms are clean and mine had a lovely view from the third floor. There was a ceiling fan which helped with the heat. The kitchen was kept clean and there was a free coffee machine which was great in the mornings Keep in mind that there is no elevator or air conditioning. The hotel is in a fairly busy area, so there is noise on weekend nights

It’s a very comfortable room with really good WiFi. Great proximity to the city. Although there was a fan. We didn’t feel the air at all whatsoever. It need an air conditioner.

Heat and noise

Location is the only thing that makes this property decent. There is so much noise going all night from the bars downward on the street. The wooden floors make so much noise when one walks around the room. The air conditioning was only this ventilator attached to the ceiling, which worked for nothing. One of the shared bathroom on the 4th floor was extremely narrow to fit in, the other one was mostly occupied.

The location was amazing - you could walk everywhere in the main areas! The view from the room was also beautiful. The room and bathrooms were clean. No lift to the top levels (it's fine unless you have very heavy luggage). A bit warm in the rooms, but they have a fan.

Clean room with a great view and great location!

Staff put up brand new signs while we were there. Had a full kitchen with storage bins for each room. And the coffee maker in the kitchen made everything.

Old -charming house ❤️ in the heart of Lisbon! I highly recommend this place , location is just perfect! It’s pretty simple but clean and private! Check in was super easy! All was good to me! ❤️

Location is absolutely EpiC

The bathrooms were not very clean. The door to the room was thin, so that every noise in the corridor woke us up at night.

Location, cleanliness, friendly staff, and such. Uncomfortable mattress/worn out, and my room floor was slanted.

The location is in a very busy area so you can world everywhere. The way the door locks. One night another Guest opened our door in the middle of the night. It was very scary. Our room was facing a noisy street but in general it was fine.

It’s a clean private room in a great location for a good price and the convenient lock box and code system means you can check in late if needed but there are a few negatives that make it less than satisfactory The room was very dark with totally inadequate lighting - just a small bedside lamp and no ceiling lights They don’t store your bag before check in or after check out although they do send a link to a nearby baggage storage space it’s just an extra hassle. There’s some noise from nightclubs which I knew about before booking and it wasn’t really a problem just a background noise but a neighbor or staff member had their tv blaring out loud at all times of day which was annoying

This is a very noisy place. I stayed on the first floor directly above a bar, which played loud music until 2am each night I was there (Tuesday / Wednesday). Almost impossible to sleep before they were closed. Also you can hear everything inside as well. Every step someone takes, slammed doors, and neighbors' conversations. So if you are not planning on going out till the bitter end, and need rest , find another hotel or certainly ask for a room that is not directly above the bar.

It can be noisy outside

Location and price. A bit noisy, but personally I need ambient noise to fall sleep. However, the cold was ….. No heat in cold night. No heater in cold early March night. Even with second comforter and hugging my partner we barley got any sleep.

Location, location, location! Then value, value, value. Great kitchen, with modern (and free) espresso machine. Steps away from everything! Comfy bed and reliably clean, especially the shared bathrooms. Metro to airport just a few blocks away. Everything is done by message, but they are super prompt and helpful. There are cleaning staff here during the day but not after hours. They are very nice with beautiful smiles. Almost no hot water on 4th floor. Cold showers! I think its a pretty small water tank. No one actually watching the door after hours and into the night, so one should have situational awareness in common areas. I did note the presence of cameras but not sure those are monitored in real time. Its a hoof up the steps, if you have a disability or are pregnant, ask for a low floor. No desk in the room so difficult to work on computer. With this all said -- on balance I loved this place and stayed extra days! Lastly, unless I missed it, there is only one way in and out and no smoke or heat detectors. Be smart and plan your emergency exit.
