The room had no mosquito net, which made it uncomfortable to sleep, especially in the hot weather. However, the lady in charge was kind and gave me an electric mosquito repellent that works at night — it helped a bit and allowed me to sleep. When I asked for water, the staff brought me a bucket of water to use — a very old-fashioned and inconvenient solution that really doesn’t suit a hostel. The place is clean and quiet, but the services do not match the price. After reading other reviews, I found that the water problem is recurring and has never been properly fixed. Honestly, a hostel cannot operate without running water, especially in such hot weather. Management should inform guests in advance about this issue or offer partial refunds. Overall, a disappointing stay — I wouldn’t come back.

For the first day, the breakfast came in slightly later than scheduled. But that wasn't a big issue anyway.

The hotels need improvement , old kitchen cooking pots, etc . Mosquitoes at night and a lot of houseflies during the day. Bathroom doors left open on the daily bases.

Location is great. Walking distance to a big mall. The staff is very friendly. She will help you out with any problems in Tanzania. None

Location - Location was accurate on the map and it's right next to the mall. Easy transport access to central (Kisutu) and ferry terminal. You can get many busses to different parts of the city. The place - safe and secure where you can meet different travellers. The WiFi works perfectly, it's clean and well maintained and there's running water. Staff make sure everything is functioning properly and has a really good kitchen with all the utensils. The staff are friendly and nice, who are eager to help you and give advice and there's a common room to relax and chill.

Budget friendly but if you are only staying for a day or two CANT BE LOCATED ON GOOGLE MAPS! Arrived at 4AM in the morning, took a Uber and the map took us to a different place, ended up paying more! I had contacted the host about CHECKING IN EARLY as my arrival was at 3AM(they said its okay) but when I arrived at 5AM ,HOST WANTED ME TO PAY FOR ONE EXTRA NIGHT TO CHECK IN!.If you arrive earlier,be prepared to sleep on a chair until check in time which apparently is MIDDAY! ROOM TOO HOT YOU SWEAT AT NIGHT CANT SLEEP.Fan attached to ceiling was not working well.Roomate slept on floor because it was too hot. INTERNET CONNECTION AND ELECTRICITY ON and OFF! NO WATER in SHOWER last day,I had to leave without showering.

I have lodged at 5-star properties around the US, Europe, Asia and Africa and have never been treated with the kind of care and attentiveness I received as a guest at The Nest Haven Hostel. Maria and her staff were outstanding hosts and my stay was full of thoughtful and considerate touches such as the complimentary breakfast, offers of tea and coffee, a stocked refrigerator with reasonably priced refreshments for purchase, and great advice on things to do and see in Dar es Salaam. I really felt as if my needs were anticipated and the staff definitely exceeded them. The rooms, common areas, and bathrooms were always pristine and tidy. Access to the property was easy and the premises was always secured, making me feel safe. On days when the mosquitos were particularly aggressive, I was even provided with bug repellent without asking. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed my time at this place, in fact, I returned to stay for additional days after my initial booking. The Nest Haven absolutely felt like HOME!!! I recommend this place for anyone seeking a clean, safe, friendly lodging option in Dar es Salaam!
