I travel quite a bit, especially with kids, so I always take the time to read reviews before booking a hotel. I saw several reviews mentioning that this was a great place to stay, so I was looking forward to our visit. Unfortunately, our experience was a little different. First, the staff at check-in weren’t very welcoming. Everyone seemed like they didn’t really want to be there, which definitely didn’t give us the best first impression. The parking was another issue. The spaces are extremely small, and getting in and out was difficult, especially with some guests not parking within the lines. If you have a larger vehicle, be prepared for a tight squeeze. Our room itself was nice, but the cleanliness could definitely be improved. The floors were so dirty that the bottoms of our feet became dark just from walking around the room, almost as if we had been walking outside all day. With kids, cleanliness is especially important to us. The refrigerator also took quite a while to cool down. Since we were traveling with our little one and needed to keep their milk cold, we ended up having to put the milk in a bucket of ice until the refrigerator was cold enough. As far as the location, the area wasn’t bad and was fairly convenient. However, we did encounter a homeless individual near the stairs leading up to our room. They never bothered us or caused any problems, but it’s something families may want to be aware of depending on their comfort level.

Everyone at Hotel Currant was very friendly and helpful. It was a great place to stay for a clean room and close access to Long Beach State University.

Staff were great. The pillows are weirdly compact, hard and lumpy- bring some from home if you can. The ac unit is really loud and unfortunately sucked in all the pot smoke from our neighbors balcony all night and the next morning. Pch is really loud too, try to get a room away from it. Pool area is cute, rooms affordable for the area.

Cleanliness The $15 for parking was a little steep being as there was nowhere to park‍♂️

Always a great place to start comfortable beds, walk in shower, and quiet. Stay here when in the area for work.

Staff were great, the beds were comfortable, parking hard, even though we paid for it, the safe was broken and the toilet handle needed to be jiggled to work at times, and it looked like there was stuff growing in the showers grout. But the worst thing was the air conditioning. It did work but was so loud we couldn’t sleep with it in but it was so hot and stuffy that we couldn’t sleep on that account. We wouldn’t stay there again.

Excellent customer service, beautiful pool and surroundings, comfortable beds and clean, modern bathrooms. Very easy access to CSU Long Beach. Nothing. It was great! Exactly as stated and exactly what we were looking for.
