Dutch Hotel Long Island City New York , Belvilla District 6 Formerly Sonder

Along with whatever fee you are charged through Expedia, there is an additional 35 dollar fee to just get in the door of the building. The “lobby” floor was wet with dirty towels lying around. There was no staff present to assist you in getting to your room. Once I retrieved the code for my room I took the elevator to my floor only to find the door to my room ajar. Both the hallway and my room reeked of weed, not as if someone had just lit up, but in a way that had permeated the space permanently. The room had zero amenities. No soap to wash your hands aside from wall mounted body wash in the shower. There was one folded towel on the bed and this towel had definitely seen better days. The walls were paper thin so the sounds of others coming and going consistently interrupted my sleep. It’s safe to say the experience here was more in line with a Hostel. Emphasis on the “FORMALLY a Sonder”… do not stay here.

The room was great. Elevator a little slow but everything was great. Love that everything is contactless. There was a staff member in the lobby if you needed. I asked for extra towel snd he was kind enough to get them.

Also, during my stay, there were several days when there was no hot water for the shower, which was very inconvenient. Expedia handled the situation very well and was very helpful. However, the hotel told me they would contact me, but I never heard from them.

Scam. They charge $35 a day additional fee so what you pay online is not all of it. Be careful

The new self-check in is ok and is nice to still have someone there while refining the process, the issue was with cleaning service, they never cleaned during our stay (Tuesday-Friday).

Better plan for when access codes don’t work.

There is no staff and reaching the hotel at the number provided was useless. I paid for a balcony room and was told that there wasn’t any and given a regular room. There were no towels provided and had to wait 2 hours for them. The code given to get in the room did not work and had to call the customer service number and they also had trouble and had to reset it. The room was extremely small and dirty and the be charged an additional $35 per day for the room to look the way it did was ridiculous. I would never recommend this hotel!

No se confíe en el precio que le aparece en la página son unos estafadores ya que una vez tú pagas la reserva y en lo que llegas al Hotel a registrarte te cobran adicional $50 y no hay manera de que no lo pagues. Tienes que pagarlo sí o sí. Es obligatorio pagarlo

Could not check in. Didn't have my room

There was no TV remote in our room. When we did get a remote after waiting 2 hours- the TV was not connected correctly

This hotel was a real sad and missed opportunity. The room was very clean and actually very nice. However there was not a cup or glass in the room for a glass of water, this would be a standard amenity in the cheapest motel. Had they put a few plastic wrapped cups and or bottles of water it would have made the experience a whole better. A coffee maker and some coffee or tea for tired travelers would have earned the experience 5 stars instead of 1 or 2. A minor improvement in guest services would make this hotel a whole lots better. The staff were less than helpful and didn’t know where to find a cup or sugar for coffee. I would stay there again because it was clean but that is the only reason that I would return. A missed opportunity for a better customer experience.

We were charged an additional $40 upon arrival that could only be paid with a credit card in a kiosk. It was late and an elder man (my father) checking really struggled to understand and figure it out.

No hot water no sc on a 93 degree weekend locked out of room multiple times dirty bed sheets broken everything. Lock , bathroom sink screws all loose falling off felt very unsafe as a female there staying alone 0/10

There was a spider in my bathroom. There was no hot water and emailed the hotel about it and morning happened. Apparently it’s common since someone who’s also staying has no hot water.

This idea of operating a hotel with no staff or front desk attendant is dumb. Better scratch it . Checking in is another dumb process. Until you get the room and the code you have to jump through loops.

No hot water

Lots of broken fixtures in the bathroom. Room damp and wet feeling with an incredibly lumpy duvet cover. Ants in room. When we stayed water heater was broken and no way to know when going to be fixed, so we were taking cold showers. I also received an automated email after I had already left checking me in for another day? I could have forgiven my overall experience if it was just one or two of these things that happened, but just the continued problems I experienced prompted me to leave this review for others who may consider booking.
