Bayside Hotel

Convenient to the beach.

The location was near the beach but about an 8 min walk from the pier and the more touristy areas. While my room was clean, this hotel had more of a motel vibe. A budget option—you get what you pay for.

Everything was really nice except the air conditioning. It only ran for 10 minutes before you had to reset the outlet, so it wasn’t a very comfortable sleep. It might be worth consulting with an electrician. The bike rental was nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great location, just across from the beach. Room was comfortable, AC worked well. Close to some good restaurants (Cha Cha Chicken, Cobi, Dogtown Coffee). Bus that can take you to the pier. Santa Monica Center and the Metro station. A bit of a hike but there’s even a bus to LAX. They also have bikes and beach stuff you can borrow. Would have been nice to have breakfast at the hotel, but there was a coffee maker in the room.

The staff were great and helpful if we needed assistance. We received a room upgrade to the next level which was a lovely surprise. The kitchen king room was really spacious and clean. We loved the location of the hotel.

The toilet was leaking brown water, and staff members accused me of snooping. The beach chairs and equipment were old. Additionally, someone entered the room and took my new sweatpants and phone charger.

The bathroom was new and clean but the room was very worn down with hand prints all over the walls and stains on the sheets. When I went back to the desk the staff didn’t offer clean sheets or another room. We ended up leaving and getting a clean hotel and lost out on a couple hundred dollars since they would only refund the second and third night even tho we didn’t stay there

Amazing location! Right next to the beach/pier. Very close to the shopping area as well and plenty of restaurants nearby. Private parking was available.

When I arrived, I stopped at the front desk and asked about parking. I was surprised to learn that the hotel had only a limited number of parking spaces and that the front desk employee was offering them to guests who were willing to pay more. I told her that this was not an appropriate way to manage parking and that the hotel should follow a clear policy, such as first come, first served. She simply replied, “This is our way.” It was too late to cancel my reservation, so I shortened my stay to one night and had to search for metered street parking for my car. In terms of safety, the hotel did not feel secure at all. Anyone from the street could easily access the guest-room areas, which could create serious safety concerns for residents. The room also had very poor sound insulation. I could easily hear people in the neighboring rooms and on the balconies. Overall, I had a very disappointing experience and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
