Flawless. A perfect stay. The staff is amazing, the hotel is beautiful, food is fantastic. Rooms are comfortable, spa therapies are excellent. We really had a wonderful time at this wonderful hotel. But again, I have to say… the incredible staff makes a difference! Nothing. Everything was perfect.

Truly the highlight of our two weeks in the region. From the moment we arrived at the pier the staff was fantastic, especially to our young daughter. We just came from staying at a Four Seasons and the staff at La Residence far exceeded what we experienced there. The rooms, restaurant and ground are also perfect - the location is ideal for exploring Luang Prabang but retreating after dark to relax and debrief over cocktails. We are already discussing a return for next winter. Nothing, everything was perfect, the staff in particular really stood out.

A beautiful hotel seeped in history - on the site of the royal residence and where young princes used to fly their kites. It’s not the most modern given the building is of an era but it’s wonderfully evocative and has an infinity pool with unbeatable views. The staff are exceptional and anticipate all needs (dietary eg GF and vegan, as well as other things guests may want) but without being stuffy. The new manager Parisa is a warm welcoming presence. There is a complementary buggy service into Luang Prabang centre (5-6 mins drive) which is super useful. We stayed 6 nights and were sad to go. We decided to organise our own excursions rather than go with the hotel ones as the mark up seemed a lot.

Amazing service, excellent food and beautiful location. The staff made the effort to memorise our name and habits which we really appreciated!

The hotel is located on top of a hill overlooking Luang Prabang and used to be owned by the Lao Royal Family. It is beautifully laid out and furnished. The infinity pool in the centre overlooking the hills and then the large dining room, bar and reception area is amazing. Our room was very spacious with a large outdoor space for reading and enjoying the beautiful view. The bed was incredibly comfortable and d the lounge and bathroom area very large and comfortable. However incredible the property itself is , and it really is, it is over-shadowed by the team that run the hotel and work there. Everyone we met was warm, kind and genuinely thoughtful. This was a big expense for us for our 20th wedding anniversary so all of the optional tours and experiences were tricky for us to afford but we never felt at all pressured to spend money. Only given great advice and really taken care of. The team were very open and all talked to us about their lives in Laos so gave us a broader understanding of the country we were visiting. Finally - I need to mention the food. We love good food and are lucky to live in Japan so eat a lot of very good food. The restaurant at Residence Phou Vau is exceptional. Everything we eat was made with the highest quality fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. I tried to exercise every day so that I could eat more ;-) I cannot think of any areas for improvement. We had an idyllic stay.

Gorgeous property overlooking the valley and town. Staff/ service is wonderful. Also enjoyed the pool and delicious food. We had a lovely suite with a huge balcony and separate bedroom & living room in which they set up 2 extra beds for our kids. It was definitely spacious enough for the 4 of us. You do need transportation to get to the old city center - the hotel offered a shuttle. Offering a yoga session for guests in the morning would have been the cherry on top in this beautiful setting.

Our stay at La Residence was nothing short of spectacular. It's indeed a hidden gem that deserves all the praise it receives. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. The staff truly went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. We definitely recommend the sunset river cruise on the Mekong River; we had such an incredible time. The cooking class with Chef Larissa was a very special activity as well. Our stay was unforgettable, one that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. The exceptional service, luxurious accommodations, and attention to detail made it a truly special vacation. We left feeling relaxed and totally rejuvenate :-). Thank you to the entire staff for making our stay so memorable. We can't wait to return!

Very attentive staff, amazing place, garden is incredible, pool has a stunning view. Chef's food was delicious, breakfast and dinner were both really great. Very skilled spa masseuses, she knew how to adapt her massage to pregnant women, which is very rare. Welcome ceremony was a first for us & we loved it. We also did the almsgiving experience with la résidence phou vao and I would genuinely recommend it. Both will remain amazing memories for us. They did everything for your stay to be unforgettable ! Nothing, really. This stay was a treat.

The Belmond was a wonderful home away from home. The hotel had a beautiful design and offered magnificent views of the mountains. Accessing Luang Prabang was easy thanks to the shuttle transport provided by the hotel. Our family suite was spacious, clean and had excellent amenities. However, what made this place truly exceptional was the staff. They went above and beyond to treat us like family, making sure all our needs were met, sometimes even anticipating them before we asked. We would like to give a special shoutout to Andre and the restaurant staff for taking such great care of us. We look forward to returning to this amazing place.
