Villa Namkhan Heritage

Beautifully located by the Nam Khan, and the room was spacious, with a good bed and vigorous air conditioning. It is definitely Lao style; if nearby roosters will bother you, look elsewhere. But I liked it once I was there and had bought myself some soap and a bottle of water. The room had almost no supplies – it’s the only place I’ve ever stayed in Southeast Asia, including really bare-bones places in Laos, where there was not a single bottle of water provided. And while it was very clean when I arrived, it was never cleaned again until I left. The staff member (owner?) who checked me in also tried hard to persuade me to cancel my Booking.com reservation in exchange for a discount, which would have both cheated Booking.com and also subjected me to a cancellation penalty. I didn’t like that dodginess, nor the fact that his card machine was not working so he needed cash (credit cards are not widely accepted in Laos, but businesses that do accept them no longer have frequent technical problems… the ones that have technical problems tend to be those that want to pretend to accept credit cards, but not actually do it.)

Staff members are local. Very friendly. Mosquitoes. But it’s a part of the life :)

The location was great - by the Nam Khan river, quiet, out of the crowded areas. The house is very nice and it must have been nice after the recent renovation (too bad it degraded, apparently fast, due to poor maintenance). It was nice to have an outside area (the corridor to the rooms, not an actual private balcony) to sit, though it was the only room in the back area that was not facing a wall, so we were lucky. The bed was decent - seemingly clean bedsheets (though we found a big swirl of bed when we arrived, but it could have been from laundry), firm mattress (good for us) and good pillows. Most positive reviews and ratings don't have anything to do with reality, particularly in terms of cleanliness and service. Complete language barrier with the Vietnamese staff, yet they tried to convince us to cancel our booking during check in. The cleanliness was a joke, absolutely disgusting! At least the bedsheets seemed clean and we could sleep. Terribly moldy place, strong smell of mold (still, better than the other room we were shown that was unbreathable) there was visible mold on the ceiling. On both days, breakfast consisted of 2 well-done sunny side up eggs, three slices of toast, 3 slices of banana and 2 small slices of watermelon. The safe box doesn't work. We were provided with only a single almost finishing roll of toilet paper and none more. We had to use ours. The fridge disconnects when you leave the room. We didn't use it, but it defrosted and made a puddle and it was smelly.

Facilities, cleaness, reception, not worth the price

The owner had a soft personality When i checked in the staff / owner was sleeping on the mattress behind the reception with his gf. It was shocking. But sure, then when i checked in he wouldnt accept credit card. I had no cash. I was surprised because i thought booking was taking my card. That seemed off because it says if i cancel i will get charged. But the hotel said theres no way booking can take my money and give it to them. I was confused. I went to my room and it didnt look like the pictures. It was dark and the furnitures were quite old. I went to see my friend, borrowed cash and just gave it to him and left the hotel for another one.

There was quite strong smell from the grilling outside at the riverbank, but it was temporary...

Hospitality

In a quiet and peaceful part of town but close to the Main Street and both rivers.

I absolutely loved staying in this hotel. It is pretty, with many plants and a garden. And, it has, by far, the best location in town. It is located just in front of the Namkhan river and it has many restaurants and things to do walking distance, yet calm. I was provided by them with a free bicycle, which I adored driving around and made my Luang Prabang visit an unforgettable experience. Thank you!

Wonderful time when we stay here! Hotel with Namkhan view very nice, also the garden in the hotel very cozy with a lot of flowers, special i like Rose Room very clean and service make up the room every day! Thank you for that. The owner very pretty and sweet girl with always smile We will recommend for everyone go to there, And of couse, we will come back in the soon!

The location and staff were great here. The room was a little cramped, but it had the necessary facilities.

Cleaniness

We had a perfect stay at the Villa Namkhan, the room was huge, the bed was super comfortable and the staff were so attentive. They helped with booking trains and were always on hand if we had questions. The location is walking distance to everything so you can just relax and enjoy Luang Prabang.

Staff were lovely, they upgraded our room for our whole stay and gave us breakfast for free. They help to sort a motorbike too, maybe more pricey than other places but they bring the bikes inside at night to ensure they’re safe. Rooms were big and clean and lovely hot water in the shower. Location was 5-10 minute walk from the main strip and very peaceful by the river.

This accommodation is so nice, near the center. The staffs are friendly. The Vietnamese owner helped us a lot on this trip. Thank you so much.

Exceptional

The owner was friendly and genuine. She was always willing the help us book our tours and taxi ect. The rooms were big! Nice and clean. The balcony was so pretty to sit and wind down. Breakfast was tasty and I recommend the omelet. Nothing negative. Everything was great ?

The room and breakfast was good. close to the historic center There were cockroaches in the room. We rented a scooter over the Hotel which was more expensive than in town and in worse condition

It was lovely and calm with river view. To the main street it is just 3min walking. Just round the corner are two very good French restaurants for amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner and drinks. Also all central tourist spots are in walking distance. Staff is friendly and helpful. A scooter and motor bike rental is next door. All in all, a perfect location.
