The beautiful oriental design of the rooms and restaurant. Situated overlooking the Nam Khan river, it had a timeless quality harking back to an age when life was simple and unhurried. We loved our stay, nothing we didn’t like

I loved the attention to detail, from the lily pad pond with a curving stone path to the carved wooden doors and brass fixtures, it exceeded expectations. It is about $15 to get to town which can add up but it’s quiet rural setting is worth it.

This was my third visit to Chateau Orientale Resort — and it continues to be a truly special place in Luang Prabang. During my stay, I had a two-day tour with Lan, an excellent guide, including a Cave Stay Over in the Sacred Valley, Hiking, E-biking through the beautiful countryside, swimming at stunning waterfalls, and kayaking back along the river — all absolutely unforgettable. Another highlight was the bonding time with two elephants, feeding and bathing them in the river — a truly unique and meaningful experience. Back at the resort, the rooms are comfortable and relaxing, and the setting on the Nam Khan River is peaceful. The restaurant food was superb, and dining there with one of my favourite river views made every meal special. Chateau Orientale Resort perfectly combines adventure, comfort, and natural beauty — I would happily return again!

Location was amazing, the elephant and bike tours we went on were very fun. Our tour guide Lan was one of the highlights of our stay. Shower ran out of hot water very quickly. Hard for two people to shower. They have a bathtub you can use but the hot water runs out so quickly you can not fill it.

The buildings and grounds are stunning. The rooms are tastefully decorated and truly beautiful. The location could not be better if you are looking for a peaceful place to stay along the river away from the main town, this place is ideal Being in a small town along the river overlooking mountains and rural farms is very tranquil.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully designed hotel. It was even nice than the photos, in my opinion. We had a great room with a beautiful view and did some really great activities. The place is tucked away, and is not close to much except a small village and a fun little tea house. Our driver was not there to meet the train arrival as arranged, and we had to wait awhile. I was glad to have cell service.

The place a bit far from everything, but we were looking for such a place, and enjoyed every moment of our stay there. Beautiful place, great service and food options. Loved it a lot

The perfect getaway with marvellous views of the Mekong river. Spacious rooms, ÁC, nature sounds all around. Watching river activities from our room like water buffalos and locals passing by in their boats. Great clean pool. The grounds are kept clean. Makes you feel like you are in a garden story book and the immense amount of details that has gone into making this place is just unreal. Lovely staff. Lovely town people. A few shops within the walking distance for limited snacks and drinks . And an elephant sanctuary about a 15 min leisurely walk away. Come here to disconnect and enjoy nature at its finest Be sure to bring mosquito repellent.

Just visit there. You will have amazing experiences.

Location on river is very beautiful. Staff did not have much English but can communicate through Google translate. The elephant encounter was good and easy to organise There is nothing immediately outside the location so need to rely on hotel for anything.

    Wish I couldve stayed longer!

This hotel is just amazing. We planned to stay for 4 nights to relax in the middle of a 6 week trip. We extended to 5 nights. The buildings are gardens are stunning. The location next to the river is perfect. So much life going on to watch. The food was superb. The hotel had vegetarian dishes on the menu and also adapted other dishes for us replacing meat with tofu. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I cannot emphasise enough what great value for money this hotel is and an occasional review complains that breakfast was not included in the price! As an aside it’s nice to walk next door to the new tea house too for tea and a light savoury of sweet bite. Nothing

We absolutely loved everything, would highly recommend, the food was delicious and great prices. The pool was beautiful, the view of everything was beautiful. The staff were kind and helpful. Our elephant tour was with two elephants and five people, so very quiet and didn't have to share the elephants with a crowd. We were surprised this place wasn't busier but it's a secret gem. You could stare at the view all day. Booking.com does say there isn't a toilet in our room but that is most definitely not true, the bathroom was clean and comfortable. Nothing

The grounds and facilities are wonderdul. The surroundings are primitive, some people ride around on elephants. This leaves large lumps of processing which you should avoid. The people are almost as nice as the elephants, and I could not really understand what the elephants said about the boys that worked with them. The timing of porcessing may have said something. . The weatiher was a little cold iat the start of the new year. That is not their fault, however the fact that their shower hot water heater worked as hard as a government employee was indeed their fault. Could you say it worked? No, but the water was sometime warm.
