Enjoy original features such as balconies overlooking Madrid’s streets and attractive wrought-iron railings. Visit the majority of Madrid´s attractions by foot thanks to the central location of the Ateneo. Stroll around the historic center which begins from the entrance of the Ateneo and visit the Plaza Mayor where you can enjoy an espresso outdoors while watching life in Madrid go by. Location is a plus for this hotel! It is at the center of attractions . Walking distance to many places. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was spacious and clean! I enjoyed my stay there

Si tuviese que comentar algo negativo, tal vez sería el desayuno (nos venia incluido), no estaba tan bueno. Pero el staff era muy amable, y todo muy limpio.

It was lovely and did its job. We’re were only there a night but it had everything we needed for our family of three. Grandma had her own room and I stayed in another with my daughter. There was plenty to do within walking distance for the few hours we had. I think one more blanket on the bed would have been all I needed to improve my stay.

Location is FANTASTIC. Very attentive cleaning staff. Windows to courtyard offer great natural light. Spare and straightforward amenities encouraged us to spend our time out and about, but were reassuring and comfortable when we got back. Shower was lovely. I did not intend to book a quiet room - but it certainly was! At booking, I didn't see that no breakfast was even a choice - so be careful to review those items. A comfortable chair might have been useful for our abuela. :)

Close to everything you would want to see in Madrid.

A bit outdated furniture and slow elevator, but still good.

Hotel Ateneo is in an incredibly convenient location—steps from restaurants, shopping, and major attractions. My room comfortable and well appointed. But, the best part was the hotel front desk staff. They were so accommodating. I forgot something and they helped make sure it was packaged and ready for UPS to pick it up right away. Their customer service is outstanding! I would stay there again. Be sure you ask the front desk to turn the AC is on when you’re coming back into the hotel.

I like that the kind lady on the desk switched us to a room that reflected the photos displayed when we booked, after I showed her the photos on the app. They plainly displayed a floor to ceiling french style window/door to a micro balcony. Our new room offered a picturesque view of the street. Highly satisfactory. My heartfelt thanks to that woman. No problems with after hours street noise; noticed a police station/presence a block away and highly restricted vehicle traffic in the immediate neighborhood. Breakfast was quite good, with plenty to choose, and kept well stocked. Kudos to the pleasant staff. Central location where we chose to walk to all the interesting sites and tours. Nearby subway is one stop from the rail station, where we eventually departed for Seville. All of the front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke fine English. The pointed out a nearby convenience store, Carrefour, to explore and pick up various items. They put is in an "attic" room that did not resemble the app display photos when we booked. The bed was positioned under a gable, headboard to the outside wall, the window inaccessible without kneeling on the bed to open or close it. It seemed possible to hit your head on the roof sloped ceiling when accessing the bed. We spent the first night there, quite a lot of street party noise, probable because it was Saturday night and not the room's fault, as the window was modern, heavy and sealed well. Just lively locals having a good time in a party city, at a next door tapas bar with sidewalk tables.

Location was perfect. It is within walking distance to all key attractions, shopping, and restaurants You could hear all the noice from outside and from inside, even conversations from next door rooms. We could not sleep well.

We were so comfortable and amazed at how quiet the room became when we closed the balcony doors. We slept well! We never tried the breakfast because there was a delightful restaurant right downstairs and next door "Ciudad el Tui" I believe it was called. We had dinner there one night as well. Maria was so helpful at the front desk. We walked all over the city and truly enjoyed the location. We just loved the accommodations.

Location and staff Too loud by pedestrian and trash pickup trucks and road cleaning trucks. Would not recommend this place because it’s too loud until 3AM

Breakfast was the same thing everyday and limited. If you came 30 min before closing, many things were not there, were finished.

The gentleman that checked me in was friendly and accommodating. Very basic hotel that has not been well maintained, which is a shame since it has a lot of potential.

A nice hotel just a few steps from Puerta del Sol. The room met our expectations. The hotel staff were very professional and friendly, and available 24 hours a day. The safety deposit box was too small to hold a laptop. The toilet's location in the bathroom was a bit awkward. The key card used to control the electricity in the room also controlled the power supply to the refrigerator, so removing the card turned off the refrigerator.

The hotel was in the middle of everything. We walked everywhere. The desk staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great. We were unable to control the air temperature from our room. To make an adjustment we were told to call the desk or open the window.

If you want central Madrid, this is basically it! Great transport connections all over the city and airport from Gran Via and Sol Metro/train stations, both within a couple of hundred yards walk. The downside is that it can be a bit noisy, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised how little it bothered me. I had a lovely big room on the first floor with comfortable beds and a good bathroom with excellent water pressure in the shower. Really friendly and helpful staff are on the front desk 24/7. What's not to like?!
