Kind staff and great location.

The location is great in terms of ease of access to the old city as well as really good shops and restaurants. The room itself was very clean and although it was small, it had everything that I needed. The hostal it’s located on the second floor and there is a lift and the staff are very friendly and professional. It was so noisy at night! My window was on Calle de Esparteros and there seemed to be something going on every hour of the night. Garbage pick up just after midnight, people shouting on and off all night long, the cafeteria across the road getting ready to open around 6 AM and I swear they were throwing the crockery. It finally did quiet down around 8:00 am, after I had to get up. I’m not sure if the two nights I spent there were an exception, but both nights were bad for sleep even with the window closed.

Great hotel in a great little piazza. It is close to Piazza Mayor and Mercato San Miguel. Lots of restaurants near by. . . A good value! *I forgot to take in-room pics.

The room was modest in decoration. The TV is really small.

Location was great. Beds comfortable, friendly host. Being so close to the street we were expecting noise but we slept well No way to adjust the heat as we found the room hot at night but able to open the door to the balcony which was good

Location clean room small but relaxing No breakfast no kitchen

Had an issue with being locked out of the main outside door at night. Some drunk on the street was ding donging the door bells around 3am waking up the whole hostal. Not a 24hour reception, the staff was nice but essentially no English spoken. Rooms are cozy so you need to be efficient with your baggage and belongings.

Nothing to dislike.

Great Location, The hotel staff's treatment was excellent.
-
Friendly staff, nice location, everything was spotless clean I don’t want to put this on the hotel since I was aware, but I think that people should know it is loud outside, so come prepared
-
Great location, comfortable bed It was quite noisy. From the street but also from the next room. Bad insulation, I guess. Noise all night long.

Easy to check in, clean room, excellent location, near Metro and a lot of local tourist sights. In the building’s first floor there is a Starbucks, but there are many local options too, there’s also a small market on the same plaza, everything is at a walking distance. -

Great, comfy place for people who don't plan to spend a lot of time in their hotels. The rooms, while small, were very clean and comfortable, and there was also a little balcony with amazing views. The location is as good as it gets for Madrid, and the staff were lovely. Excellent value for the price. The room was on par with my expectations, so nothing, really.

Wish the host was present more. Very helpful and personable when she was.
-
Its proximity to every thing, the comfort of the small but very clean room, the beautifully helpful, generous and friendly hostess Yanet, the fact that there was a lift (which wasn’t advertised), the ability to come and go without any issue! NA

The TV was very small.

The location was great. Easy access to Plaza Mayor and Sol Plaza/metro. The shower was extremely small but typical for such a building.

There was nothing not to like. We were actually pleasantly surprised when we entered Hostal Santa Cruz. This older building was very nicely renovated to make a comfortable stay. But most outstanding was its location. Madrid is very active until very late at night. If you are a light sleeper you might want to bring earplugs.

Jeannette and Roberto are lovely proprietors, the rooms are clean and comfortable and provide everything one needs. The hostel is so well located, you can walk to numerous stunning and historical sites. Highly recommend.
