Everything was perfect, Thank You!

Parents and Aunt are elderly and they stayed in the actual cave part. They are not used to not having no AC but they made it!

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is very unique and gives you the authentic experience of staying in the Sassi. Although you need to walk a short distance to reach it, it is absolutely worth it. If you’re visiting Matera, I would recommend bringing only one small suitcase and wearing comfortable walking shoes. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there are many little paths around the property that lead directly to places we wanted to visit. The location is excellent and perfect for exploring Matera There wasn’t much we didn’t like. The only thing to keep in mind is that, like many accommodations in the Sassi, it isn’t directly accessible by car and requires a short walk with your luggage. However, this is part of the Matera experience rather than a downside of the property itself.

The woman at the breakfast was delightful. Very sweet. The breakfast itself was not great for what you are paying but not terrible. - No AC. (description does say no ac but we didn't realize how hot it gets and there is no fan for proper airflow) - No view (room is a large and deep rectangle) and there are two windows that face a wall. Not very bright of a room. - courtyard advertised as if it's private to you and immediate access. Not true. It's a walk to the courtyard and shared with All other guests. - Room has 1 comfortable queen bed and 2 sofa beds that were not as comfortable. I'd going with a larger party, note that you are sleeping in one big room together. -The fridge station was awkward, just a sheet hanging to cover the bottom part. Looked half decorated. - the bathroom had a strong sewage smell. Ended up having to keep the door closed. In short, the description created expectations that this was a much more of a luxury stay than we ended up experiencing.

No negatives!

The cave room was very spacious - 4 areas in one. It was also very refreshing to come back to after a day out in the Sassi. The location is excellent, with views over Matera. Claudia, the breakfast lady, was so charming and lovely. Highly recommend.

Great location, super friendly and helpfull staff. The panoramic view from the breakfast terazza is the best in town! The room is beautiful but just a bit dark and humid from the cave’s architecture.

The location is excellent. From the apartment it is a short walk to the center. The breakfast is great and hosted by Claudia, who helps during breakfast. Check-in/Check-out was easy! Nothing that i can think off!

Breakfast was great, Claudia was an absolute delight- attentive, warm & engaging. A great big hug when we left, the kind of person you hope to meet on your travels.

The view from the window and the staff! Brilliant historic vibe! I absolutely loved the ancient, historical feel of this place. Beautifully preserved and full of charm.

The hotel is very well located overlooking the Sassi Barisano with lovely views from morning to night. Our room was perfect, with a small window overlooking the courtyard. The room was large, clean, comfortable and quiet. The manager and Claudia were wonderful hosts. We were given a bottle of wine on May 1st - a welcome gift. The management of the hotel is excellent, they provided a detailed video with all the instructions of how to reach the hotel and access our room. It was a bit difficult to walk from the parking due to our luggage and the rain but otherwise all was perfect.

The breakfast spread was delicious and Claudia was so friendly.

We stayed in the Grotto, which was a cave. It was a different experience. Initially the room was very cold on the first night, Claudia the morning hostess was very accommodating and gave us a down comforter. The property owner rectified the issue and was able to get the heat to work and made it much more comfortable. Claudia greeted us every morning with a smile and set up breakfast daily. She is an absolute treasure! Be aware there is a lot of walking up many stairs to get to this property. The views are stunning!!

The conditioning unit in the room was noisy and woke us up at 6am. We had to shut off the electricity to make it stop. The sink was clogged.
