Palazzo Virgintino - Sassi Rooms

The Owner's were just fabulous. Made sure we had everything we needed, were helpful with suggestions for dining and other things. The room was spotless and all facilities top notch.

Very nice apartment within the old city that was very well maintained and updated. Balcony off the bedroom with views of the old town (Sassi) and another off the front overlooking a piazza and church. Both beautiful and fun to have wine and coffee on in the AM and PM. Great location. And the hosts were very communicative and helpful! Nothing

The hosts were so helpful in arranging taxi service from the public parking a few miles away and were quick to reply to any questions we had. We thoroughly enjoyed the views from both balconies of our apartment, one looking out over the Piazza and the other balcony overlooking the magical old city of Matera! The wonderful cafe next door is so convenient for morning coffee, croissants, and traditional ham and cheese bites. A perfect stay and highly recommend!

Perfect location in the middle of everything while still being close to parking. Matera is an absolute gem and Palazzo Virgintino is the ideal location for exploring. The family suite has two balconies and all the amenities you could possibly need. Very large shower, which was a huge bonus, and comfortable bed and pillows! Nothing, everything was wonderful.

First off, the owner was so kind and communicative. He carried our luggage up the stairs for our despite my husband’s assistance that he would do it. When I became unexpectedly ill and had to visit the emergency room late at night, they called a taxi for us and continually texted me to check on my well being. The room itself is located in a fantastic location. We felt like royalty sitting outside at night in our balcony overlooking the piazza. Cold drinks, cookies, and tea were provided for free which was lovely and convenient. The rainfall shower was nothing like we had ever seen. Overall…10 stars! Only that we had to leave this magical place.

Everything was perfect! Nicola and his wife were amazing at helping me prepare a surprise for my husband for our anniversary. The location pf the property is perfect. Right at the entrance of the old city, but near enough the city so we could park our car. The room is a spectacle a part. Amazing view, amazing atmosphere and really comfortable. Totally recommend and will be back! Nothing

The place is magical, the views are breathtaking. The place is super clean, beautiful, there are many details that make you feel very special. The host is extremely kind and a great gentleman. The bed is very comfortable and everything is very beautiful. The location was also great. You don't want to leave this place. I don't think the pictures of the place can do justice to how beautiful the place actually is, we recommend it! There is nothing we don't like.

OMG!! I cannot say enough good things about this our hosts and our stay. What an amazing and absolutely unforgettable stay. The hosts went over and above any of our expectations. They are first class. The room was absolutely beautiful. Balcony to the front overlooking the square and a balcony to the rear overlooking the beautiful city. The views are breathtaking. Nicola and Marilena are so pleasant, and they are phenomenal hosts. They went above and beyond our expectations. A+++++ rating! 10 out 10!! Thank you so much for everything!!

Great location, close to all points of interest, in front of square. Large rooms, fully equipped. Hospitality and availability from the host in everything we needed.

Friendly and helpful hosts & spotlessly clean property. Excellent location on the edge of the old town, in a small square opposite a church. Nice balcony overlooking both. The location featured in a James Bond film! Breakfast is in a neighbouring bar served by Aldo - another great host. Lots of restaurants nearby. For us Matera was the high-spot of a two week southern Italy holiday. The Sassi caves are fascinating and the extensive old town is very pretty but not over commercialised. We stayed in the loft room accessed by a steep staircase so not for those with mobility issues, but our host Nicola insisted on taking the luggage up and down for us. Similarly Matera itself is on a steep valley side so again not perhaps for those with mobility issues.

Nico is a very gracious and helpful host. The property is excellent, centrally located and comfortable.

We had a wonderful time in Matera. The apartment is cozy, modern and really clean. Nicola and Marilena are very hospitable hosts. They delivered the best service we experienced during our holidays and left no wishes unfulfilled. The apartment is located directly in the beautiful oldtown of Matera. We would be happy to return someday.

The location was great on the square and it was so quiet. The bed was very comfortable and the room had everything we needed. The hosts were very friendly and helpful! Check-in time was a little late but not really an issue.

Everything. This place was beautiful. In such a good location. Lesser Kestrels could be seen on the church across from the balcony in the early morning. Venue was soo central and easy to get to. The owner was very helpful with all his information. Would definitely recommend this place. ❤️❤️ Nothing.
