Paisa Hostel Medellín

It's still a beautiful property. I've stayed there many times, under the old ownership. The results of new owners, for me, did not compare. Staff was less attentive, Orlando is missed, two staffers spoke English, compared to everyone, before and cutting the cleaning lady was noticeable.

The room was inside a common kitchen, it was small old, dirty, humid and expensive. After we left we found a clean room with tv, AC, decent shower and even a fridge in a place nearby for less than what we paid.

The location was good, things were clean and cleaned regularly, the volunteers at the front desk were amicable. The room I stayed in, a private, had pretty windows and the beds were clean. The person who checked out right before me took the key to my private room. I don't know how long before my reservation they knew about this but, they didn't inform me until I arrived. At that point I was not offered another room or a return of funds. I paid $150 for the room and when I asked for $50 of that back the owner offered to give me back a much lower amount or to give me my full amount back but I would have to leave and find other accommodations. For the days that I was there when I was in the room I was able to lock it but, when I left the room I would store my valuables in a locker, they provided, and I would have to remember to leave the door unlocked. Honestly shit happens, and the situation itself wasn't awful. It was the owners handling of it, especially telling me I needed to leave if he gave me back more than the equivalent of $13. Also, they have minimal shared bathrooms, so there was always a wait.

Cute hostel. Nice crew. Plenty of restaurants and places around. Beds were comfortable. Late night lots of people were smoking in the common area and also in back right under the window to the room. All the smoke ended up in the room. I was wheezing at one point. They should ban the smoking in the back area and have them smoke in the front patio outside away from the rooms. The smoke in the room was a deal breaker.

The location was perfect! One of the nicest places in Medellin.

It was interesting to be hosted in what used to be a luxurious local house. It was very enjoyable and made the stay very unique. I also had a great time and the staff was always present to make sur everything was fine. They were genuine people and heartfelt people, I definitely would have stayed longer Maybe the pillows were a bit too flat and the mattress was hard and noisy, but i still had great night of sleep

Exceptional

Wow, the staff is really friendly and makes you feel like home!! We liked the location. Its a calm and a local area. Its easy to reach other areas with public transfer. Be aware that the private rooms are really basic (no window and small) but due the price its fair.

The hostel is beautiful and clean and it has a big kitchen and a nice community area. It is located in a very nice neighbourhood, everything you need is quite close.

Superb

First of all is the neighborhood, Laureles is perfect for walking. It could be called El Jardin (The Garden) it's that beautiful and warm, often with a cool breeze. The location of the hostel is convenient to shops, restaurants and cafes.

Nice, friendly hostel. Very comfortable dorms. Good common areas. And, I was so happy to find 123Wok Asian food restaurant a very short, safe walk from the hostel.

The place is awesome. We had a great time. There is everything we need. And the staff is very nice.

the pillows were too flat

Lovely staff, really helpful and attentive. Good location too, felt safe Really dirty. Bed sheets not cleaned from previous private room occupant. Bed horribly uncomfortable and so noisy it was difficult to sleep.

This place has a lot to offer. The location is great and the staff are very friendly. Hot water and good WiFi too! I checked out 2 nights early as the beds are ridiculously uncomfortable! I have travelled around the world and these were quite unbearable. This is also not a problem but might be something to consider it you are a solo traveller- lots of people stay here long term so it was difficult to meet anyone. Also there was a broken window in my room which let in loads of mosquitoes.

Perfect location and super friendly staff. The hostel is peaceful and the staff makes sure it stays that way, which is nice. The kitchen is huge and has everything you need to cook a decent meal. The bathroom is also spacious and everything is very clean! I felt very at home here. Our private 2 person room didn't have a window, so it got very hot at night. Luckily there's a fan in the room, but if you're a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend this room because of that. The shower didn't always get warm, but I feel like that's a thing in all ho(s)tels in Colombia. If you take a shower early in the morning, it does get warm.
