I agree with the reviews that point out that the hotel is older and shows some wear. But that is also part of the charm of an "old world" experience. The breakfast was plentiful. We booked the dinner as well and recommend doing so for at least one night to enjoy both the food and the 5-course dining experience. Top notch and truly a bargain for the price/value. Servers could learn to smile occasionally, but nobody was rude and they were attentive. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained with tons of flowers and the pool was refreshing. They have a delicious coffee and cake in the afternoon if you are on site. Location is fantastic- quiet and easily walkable to town and alternatively close to a bus stop. Ample, safe parking included. I don't think I would book a week here, but for a fun "step back in time," (which we felt throughout Merano), I recommend a night or two at Hotel Juliane. While we found the room to be fine (perhaps a little dated decor, but in a charming way), the only real complaint is that the bed was not the most comfortable. Sauna/steam area could use an update.

Old not worth the money

I arrived late, but the staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was easy and the rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Everything was clean and the staff was friendly. I did not like the design of the room, felt old. Breakfast was not that much better than in a hostel (nicer tables).

Extremely well-equipped hotel with indoor and outdoor pool. Delicious dinner, nice staff. The surroundings of the Hotel are very beautiful.

Everyone that works there is so friendly and welcoming. We felt very well taken care of. The food (both the half board menu and breakfast) was delicious, and the pool and sauna just lovely. It rained so we didn’t get to use the outdoor pool or garden, but it looked very picturesque. Overall a great experience, we’ll definitely come again.

all around a great stay and great value. The hotel is well kept but could need a modernization for washrooms, bedrooms to a more current style and finishes in all its areas. For now it caters to a retired type of clients used to a stayed style.

excellent service, nice room , nice view , pool not warm enough , no electricity spot near bed

There was aircon which functioned well. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The outdoor pool was very nice and I was often alone in it. The pool is long enough to actually swim in, which is great! I liked having the option to eat breakfast outside or inside. The buffet breakfast was good. The location is within walking distance to town. There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel. Be sure to go to the lovely gardens nearby and also go for a walk along the river to get to the old town. The parking area has lots of trees. There are two spots in the middle of the parking area which are free of trees - go for those to avoid washing your car.

Located in a beautiful setting, surrounded by mountains. The pool was relaxing. Most of though, was the excellent lead receptionist who went out of her way to be extremely helpful to us. She really was a star in explaining all information and more. The bed was comfortable as was the room and bathroom. Highly recommend Hotel Juliane as a few nights’ stay. The 15 minute walk back up the hill from the town centre to the hotel could be challenging for some but it’s good exercise! Also, taxis were freely available if you needed a ride back.

All the food was at a very high standard. We ate breakfast every day and I intended to eat at Sissi and other restaurants but we ate dinner at the hotel every night. Everything was of the highest quality and very fresh, healthy and cooked perfectly. At dinner, a 4-5 course limited choice set menu was only €30 and everything was delicious. I am not used to European pillows.

A fine family run hotel with an excellent restaurant and very caring staff. Helped research an excellent hairdresser for my wife. It is a bit of a hike into town, but that insures quiet. The "roads" up to the property are treacherous;y narrow.

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Indoor pool of a decent size Food (breakfast buffet) excellent A bit hidden away (15-20 minutes walk into town; 10-15 minutes to Villa Trautmannsdorf). Dinner felt a bit formal (4 course menu) but good value - you need to advise in the morning if you want to eat
