It was close to clubs near by and I intended to stay there because of that. The staff weren’t very friendly and supportive. It was horrible I reserved my stay for 11 days but something can up and I had to change plans. I told the lady at the reception if I can leave my luggage there for that one day and come back tomorrow for it mind you, I was willing to pay for the luggage to stay there since it was too heavy but she denied saying if I’m not gonna pay to stay at the hostel I gotta leave I left at night and got robbed of all that I had. My reason for choosing to stay there at first was because it was a party hostel and I knew some clubs close by but obviously it wasn’t the best option.

The hostel is in a convenient location in Centro, close to Zócalo Square, so it is good for sightseeing. Also, the basic facilities were decent. However, there were several serious problems. 1️⃣ First, the attitude of one male receptionist was truly terrible. He ignored greetings and did not even make eye contact. Also, I was told there was no room key, so every time I wanted to enter the room, I had to go to the reception. That is unacceptable. 2️⃣ The shower room smelled extremely bad. It was filled with a sewage smell, and I had no choice but to take a shower while almost feeling sick. 3️⃣ The bed was dirty. I suspect it is not properly cleaned even when guests change. 4️⃣ This is the most important point. Please read this carefully. This is less about the facilities and more about the extremely poor quality of some guests. This may not be entirely the hostel’s fault, but people who are extremely dirty, lack basic manners, or are clearly high on marijuana should not be allowed to stay. In fact, there was a tall middle-aged white man in my dorm room who made loud noises from late at night until the morning. He kept rummaging through his bags, touching and moving things around his bed, sweeping the room noisily with a broom, and eventually even spraying something inside the room. I felt genuinely scared and could not sleep. This continued from around midnight until about 5 a.m. Then, from around 7 a.m., he started talking on the phone in an unbelievably loud voice, and this continued for about three hours. After that, when the cleaning staff came, he started talking loudly to them as well. As a result, I could not sleep at all from midnight until checkout. I went to the reception, but they did not take any action and simply left the situation as it was. I have never seen such an abnormal guest before. Also, in the common area, there were men who smelled strongly of marijuana and a middle-aged woman who was clearly slurring her words. I truly did not feel safe staying there.

Clean and location

The building is well maintained and decorated. The room was having 4 beds, well separated with curtains for privacy, and having individual lights and sockets for cellphone charging. Lockers were outside of the room (bring your lock). Restrooms were clean to use. Centric location. Overall, from my experience most Casa MX were providing good service for the price range. Having the lockers out of the room is good for getting less noise when people come and go, but still the room was quite noisy, as is right by a corridor and not very sound proof. The square footage of the room was small compared to other hostels I have been during this trip of mine. That was not particularly annoying, but maybe a little less comfortable when moving around. Checking in was a bit slow.

Kind staff. Great hot water. Rooftop terrace. Rooftop terrace party noise goes right into open bedroom windows. Big loud TV in "coworking" space means it does not work as a work space. No real quiet space. The young staff is kind and helpful but seem to need a senior manager there.... it's a big hostel and they are a bit over their heads. If you dont enforce a quiet rule after 10pm, its a party hostel. List it as such.

Almost constant loud "rooftop party" music on the terrace and the 'coworking' room is really the tv watching room, so again, no real place for quiet recovery or quiet remote work. After a day out in the noisy city, one perhaps wants a quiet place to chill, or to do one's online work, not more loud music (personal preference, for the young hip and alive, this might be a plus). No potable water in the kitchen. No free coffee or tea, and minimal cookware. A somewhat odd layout of the whole building, but not terrible, just lots of going up and down stairs. For the most part quite clean with a few missed bathrooms but for a hostel, not bad.

So noisy. The window doesn't fully shut and you are on a busy loud street with vendors shouting through the night.
-
Maybe some air fans and lots of plants in the terrace for thé fresh shades.

Loud party people
