Hotel Ambrose

The location was excellent for our itinerary of going to the Musée des beaux arts and such. Charming exterior and streetscape. Our private bathroom was nice. Rather run down on the interior. Needs some tlc and new carpeting on the stairways.

Our room was clean and comfortable, but to reach it we had to travel through unkept staircases with stained carpets and corridors with drilled ceiling holes covered with plastic. Staff were helpful and friendly. We got coffee and pastries from the cafe and a little tray to have in our room in the morning. Suprised not to find a kettle in the room though, as this is a basic. Upside is the central location. The stairwells and corridors really let this place down. I was expecting a basic but clean space, but the corridors were ramshackle and grim. Our friend who had booked another room checked out immediately as her room had a pungent smell.

Overall is good The bathroom is not clean enough - the drain of bathtub is full of hair, and the water does't go down.

Fantastic location and price. Difficult to locate reserved parking. The interior was quite run down and scruffy. Curtains didn’t cover window. Shower didn’t drain.

Worn carpets were not a big problem, we happily accepted that for the lower price, good service, available parking for $30/day and helpful staff

The location was excellent. It was walkable to Old Montreal so we were able to leave our car there and walk. We were even able to catch the Montreal Canadiens playoff game since we were so close to Centre Bell. We were also able to leave the car and our luggage before the official check in time. The steps leading up to the property was a bit challenging but manageable. I did request for a room on the ground floor so only had to deal with those steps. Water pressure was also on the weak side.

Location Floor dirty. Holes in ceiling. Plethora of cables looked dangerous. Piles of junk littered around the hallway - microwaves, fridges etc. really not a good experience - couldn’t wait to get out of the place. (Fortunately bedding was clean).
