Balboa Bay Resort

Resort staff is over the top, did a spa day excellent facial and massage. Great service everywhere we went. I rated five stars because every experience was excellent, better than other resorts.

Had a great stay beautiful views, amazing service. My favorite was the extra touches the complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival and the beach kits they put together for you! Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Beautiful. Clean and easy to get around. The food and room service are incredible! Our ocean view room was very beautiful. We overlooked the private beach, so when the door was open it was a little loud with all the kids, but when the door is closed, you can’t hear them. Adam S. The manager was amazing. He was very helpful and accommodating and we really appreciated his professionalism and how nice he was. We have intentions of returning whenever we can. I didn’t like that they were renovating the lobby and did not tell us until the day before we were to arrive. Also, the woman at the front desk didn’t seem very happy to work there and was a little snotty.

Shout-out to Georgia at the front desk who helped us check-in and accommodate us—I had made a snafu in booking and had two different reservations. Another person helped us previously and said there was nothing they could do but Georgia was able to get us a king bed room that prevented us from switching rooms. The staff was helpful in terms of getting us baby things- tea kettle, extra bottles of water, and crib. Someone saw my kids one morning and came back with two dolphin stuffies- one for each of them. The pool was great and I liked the location in that it was near Balboa Bay but also accessible to the rest of the area. We were in town visiting friends in Laguna Hills and Huntington Beach, with a party in Balboa Bay so the location worked for us. My only real criticism is that the food could be much better. The poolside snacks and breakfast were decent but the dinner was not great—my wife paid $36 for a mediocre chicken Caesar salad.

Superb

One of the best getaways for me and my wife. We’re definitely returning with the kids next time. Good family environment, A+O restaurant was amazing, and great views of the bay and beach.

Was not able to check in on time, and we were then required to take a room on the member’s side above the pool which was very noisy. Not as great of an experience as the time before. Food is always great however.

In general, the resort was outdated and needs refreshment. For us, we had many maintenance issues, starting day one. The air conditioning did not work in our room and it was 85° when we walked in upon arrival. We babysat a technician for hours, and he had to come back three separate times that day and evening to finally fix the problem. That same evening we wanted to use the in room safe, but it did not work correctly and again we had to wait for a technician to come to our room and figure it out, which conflicted with our dinner plans. When we were finally able to leave the room, we used the complementary shuttle service offered by the resort. The problem was getting a return ride using the shuttle service. We had to wait at least 30 minutes outside the restaurant because no one answered the phone to shuttle us back to the resort. Very poor customer service. All of this happened on the first night we were there. and then there was the problem with self parking, which prevented us from leaving the parking lot because the resort system did not work. We had to do that every day when we wanted to leave the lot, which was really a pain and inconvenience to everyone. On July 22, our third night at the resort, we noticed our toilet leaking. We told the front desk that we were leaving for the day and would be back in the evening so would a maintenance person kindly fix the toilet issue. When we came back later that night the toilet was still leaking on the floor. It was not pleasant
