Great space, easy to find, clean, friendly staff.

It’s close to a train station. The staff is extremely friendly and hang out in you in the common area. They have an adventure board where they schedule group adventures if you’d like to join. They have Google Maps QR code that has a lot of recommendations from food, bars, site seeing etc. I’d definitely stay here again It was a bit of a party hostel. The toilets weren’t the cleanest. But overall had an amazing time

The location was good with the train but the area is known to be a not so nice area of Osaka. The room was also a bit smelly.

For the price range, this hostel is exactly what I expected. I checked in after hours, and the late check-in process was incredibly simple with clear instructions. I officially check-in and paid the next morning, and the attending staff was incredibly kind and helpful. I mentioned that I was visiting the Osaka Expo and she gave me wonderful tips that honestly improved my experience a lot. There was a little miscommunication on the late-check in instructions. It said the front-desk opens at 9:30, but it really opens at 10:00am. I was there ready at 9:30 because I wanted to dart to the Expo, but she let me pay early as soon as she saw me regardless. Everyone I met inside was also very friendly. It's definitely an active hostel with all sorts of travel-loving guests. Convenient location about a block and a half from two different metro stations, and there's a Mega Don Qui down the road in case you forgot any travel essentials. Past comments mention the area is a little "seedy," but compared to a place like NYC, it felt completely safe. If you aren't used to seeing elderly/houseless people then maybe you'd be surprised. For this price, you get what you get. I was too busy to book lodging ahead and this was the last available option a week before my trip. For a last resort, it's decent, BUT compared to other Japanese hostels it felt quite dirty. Only stay here if you're okay roughing it a little. While I never saw any insect activity, everything in the dorms was dusty and a tad grimy. The space between the wall and beds is narrow, and people left their suitcases out and open, making it very cramped. Because the floor is mostly covered with others' belongings, there's no way staff can vacuum or really clean in the dorm spaces. The separate luggage storage room exists, but it's inconvenient if you need to grab something. I recommend traveling light and only coming with a backpack. I kept my pack in my cot (luggage locked) the whole time. The room is hot, but not unbearable to someone used to staying in older Japanese buildings. The shower room smelled like steamed broccoli or sweaty socks, and was very humid. There are two aircon units in the shower room, but every time I went they were never on. There is no temperature switch and the buttons on the units were taped over by staff. I'm not sure if they run them at some point in the day, but it never felt like it. I wore flip flops in the showers and never walked around barefoot, and I recommend others do the same. For the three nights I was there, it didn't seem like the bathroom or shower room were cleaned once. I never saw mold or anything like that, but as I said, everything felt like it had a layer of grime. Past comments complained about noise from the 1st floor common space, and yes there was some, but on the 3rd floor it wasn't too bad. Perhaps the mixed dorm on the 2nd floor is worse. The higher you go, the quieter it gets, I suppose. Overall, I would book this place again as a last resort. There are no bells and whistles, but a roof is a roof.

Close to a train station and active, young crowd staying here. Black mold in the showers, the entire entrance/ground floor smelled of mildew and mold, the bathrooms were mildewy as well, and the sleeping area smelled of feet and mildew. There is high likelihood of mold throughout the entire building, not just the showers. Stayed 3 nights and couldn't wait to get out as soon as I arrived. The sleeping quarters were also very cramped, with an open area for you to put luggage (no locks or anything). Small lockers for small valuables and that was it. Also located in one of the worst parts of Osaka. At night when walking back, witnessed multiple drug deals by the bath house next door. When walking to the train in the morning, there were plenty of homeless around and the entire area did not feel safe at night or in the early morning. 2/10 would not recommend unless you're in your 20s and just want to party and not care about cleanliness or being considerate of others trying to sleep.

It’s not very close to the city center (Namba), but the metro station is less than a 5-minute walk away, and it only takes about 15 minutes to get downtown. The facility isn’t very big but is well-organized across different floors. The dorms are just okay and the beds are comfortable enough to sleep well. The staff is super friendly, and there’s a very cool activity-board in the lobby where guests can post or join daily activities. Just scan the corresponding QR code, and you’ll be added to the WhatsApp group for that event. Overall, it was a great experience, and had lots of fun with the people I met there! ^^ I don’t have any negative review

Wildly social space. Arriving in japan on my first solo trip there was a bit of melancholy in the air, being in a foreign country with a bit of jet lag. However After two nights in this hostel i began to warm up and meet people, which snowballed into building a big international group of friends that i could go out and do things with, we made connections so strong that we met back up in different cities throughout our trips. Facilities are great you have a kitchen, clean bathrooms, and showers being on the top floor was nice! Location is interesting, at night there are lots of little old folks walking around (i figure its where the district is sat) but there's a sauna next door, laundry in the hostel and one next door, your right next to tsutenkaku tower, tennoji zoo, spa world, and you're close to the metro which leads right to dotonbori street and kuromon market. I would recommend this space for your first stop as it can warm you up to Japan The building is a bit tight at times, bunks are pretty narrow, and low doorways (so if you're tall be mindful of that fohead,)

Size of the room and the cleanliness of common areas.

I stayed in 4 different hostels throughout my time in Japan and this one was the most social by far. It had similar vibes to hostels in SE Asia, which was a nice change from the quite/more relaxing vibes of the other hostels I'd stayed at in Japan. The staff were very helpful and were great at organising events for guests so that there was pretty much something happening every night/evening. The wifi was strong and the AC worked well (great for the intense heat of summer in Osaka). The hostel was walking distance to multiple metro stations so it was easy to get around and explore Osaka. The dorm room was "pod-style" with many beds all in one room. The pods themselves were quite cozy, but they did get a little warm at nighttime with the privacy curtain closed. The dorm room had AC, but the attached bathroom did not. Every time the bathroom door opened, hot air flowed into the room until the door closed again. Not the end of the world, but it did make the temperature of the sleeping area a lot warmer when the bathroom door was opening/closing often (i.e., when people were showering in the evening and getting ready to go to bed). The bathroom could have been cleaner (i.e., lots of hair in the showers and around the sink), but again, not the end of the world.

Was a good place to meet other travelers!

Perfect location considering that the subway stops at around 11pm/midnight and there is no night buses. Friendly staff. I loved the big shower area upstairs!Very comfortable! Not much space in the room but manageable for few nights. Common area without window or airy environment (I love natural light).

Nice old style hostel with sweet staff. I got in after a busy day at Osaka Sound Messe and had nice conversations with fellow travelers. Felt like being 20s again. :-) I booked the dormitory, but got upgraded into a single room. This is superb, I am claustrophobic though and had trouble with the massive old doors in rooms, toilets and shower, making me feel trapped, but this is nothing a regular person would see as negative. Absolutely awesome was the staircase! I cannot book regular hotel rooms, cause they often have the elevator-only policy. Next year I will probably come again!

  • Engine customer May 2025

Excellent location, metro and tram are steps away. Somewhat social depending on the day. My bunk had a wall protruding from one corner so the head end was very tight. Dorm layout is inconvenient, suitcase/backpack stored in separate room, so no easy access to luggage. The luggage room is also extremely packed. Lockers are in yet another separate room on other end of the dorm. Shower room tables are full of rust, got rust stains on my white shirt.
