My wife and I came to this inn with high hopes of a relaxing getaway after working hard all year, but unfortunately, we left deeply disappointed and heartbroken. We booked based on the online photos promising a lovely, spacious room with ocean views, only to be given a tiny room on the ground floor right next to the kitchen—so cramped that two people could barely walk past each other. Despite informing the management in advance about our health conditions (my wife uses an oxygen tank and I am a tuberculosis survivor), being assigned this room was truly upsetting. The mattress felt at least 20 to 30 years old, squeaking loudly with every slight movement and causing us a sleepless, miserable night. The alternative room offered the next day was no different, and we left feeling genuinely regretful. Furthermore, the carpets were cheap, worn, and stained—I even had to lay a cover down just to be able to perform my prayers cleanly—and the bedsheets had turned gray from old age rather than crisp white. I am not writing this to bash the business, because the location of the hotel is genuinely beautiful; however, your management mindset needs to change. You must stop misleading guests by showing one thing online and delivering completely substandard rooms in reality. You need to honestly display the actual room sizes, clearly state which rooms actually have ocean views, and replace the old, squeaky mattresses and grayed linens. If you invest in clean, quality updates and treat your customers honestly, you will have far happier guests and a much more successful business in the future. Please take this not as a bitter complaint, but as a sincere critique meant to help your business improve and to warn future travelers so they don't fall into the same trap.

Comfortable bed, nice view, good location close to beaches , Monterey Aquarium, and a short drive to Carmel, great hospitality the owner gave us a choice of an upgraded balcony room that was available on the second floor for free, and the homemade breakfast and snacks were great. Very Victorian decor and an older building but I thought it was very charming. In my opinion not the stay where you really want or need a tv but if you are someone that needs a tv on to sleep you may not enjoy quite as much. They do have board games and a nice room to enjoy and relax or be romantic with your partner so overall no complaints

Web search Amazingly charming old house with ocean view. It was a convent years ago. A unique experience. Short walk to the beach, aquarium, and restaurants. Freshly cooked hot breakfast and other spreads. An enjoyable short vacation!
-
Location The property is run down, worn out, and things are mismatched for the price. Place needs to be updated and breakfast upgraded for the price.
-
The open area of the lobby and breakfast in the morning, The location is also good not far from coast and main area of town. Quickly fixed heating problem in room. the decor needs some updating...I get that is "antique" themed but towels are frayed and hard, many items faded in decor...would streamline the decor in meeting areas also.

One of the rooms was dirty with hairs in the bed.

Quiet, free street parking, location, full breakfast, extremely comfortable bed. Wasn’t aware I was booking a bed and breakfast as I was just traveling thru late at night. Was a very nice change of pace. Haven’t done a b&b for 40 years, forgot how nice it is! N/a

We had a wonderful time staying at the Old St. Angela Inn. The staff was friendly and location perfect for visiting Pacific Grove and Monterey. Parking was easy and everything was within walking distance. The wi-fi was a little spotty, but other than that everything was wonderful. Thank you and see you next time!

What a disappointment from what the Inn used to be. No more wine and cheese in the dining room where people used to gather. Breakfast was terrible and nothing compared to what it used to be. Will not be returning. the changes in the new management are too drastic and too cheap. It's gone from a 5 star in to less than a Travel Lodge. No cups, kleenex, math mat in bathroom. We were so disappointed. New management has really downgraded this wonderful inn and what a drastic difference. If they want breakfast to look bigger than the 1/2 crescent with hard boiled eggs they serve they should use smaller plate. Past patrons will not be returning because of what we were used to. Terrible
