Well placed, close to everything but set at a quiet location so not to many beach sellers. The Restaurant, bar, pool, beach set up is cozy neat and clean. Can eat upstairs or at the beach bar area. Overall a pleasant setup. The food was really nice (coffee could do with an upgrade). The room was clean but we did not enjoy our room. Dated, clumsy and uncomfortable comes to mind. I had to jump to try and get onto my bed. The built in side table was at such an awkward angle everything just slides off, no shade on glaring bedside lights. We were given one thin towel each (used the beach towel to dry my hair). A couple of tea bags, one slip of sugar no coffee or milk made up the “coffee station “ for 2 people. Pillows were really lumpy and uncomfortable that kept slipping down between built in bed and wall. I like the resort, I just can’t say that I enjoyed the bedroom.

The location is great with bars and restaurants on either side of hotel and lots of action with kite surfers. Staff super friendly and a very nice hotel beach lounge. Nice breakfast. Dinner menu

I was pleasantly surprised by this property. I loved that they didn’t allow day visitors. So the place was for the guests only. It wasn’t overrun by kids, it’s a good spot for a couple. I’d rather they just turn the power off if they can’t get the generator to work. For all 3 nights we’re were there it was clicking on and off — for a sensitive noise sleeper it was driving me nuts.

My absolute favorite hotel in Zanzibar! The location is gorgeous, the beach in front of the hotel is one of the prettiest you’ll see here and everyone from check-in to the restaurant will make you feel so welcome and is so friendly! Restaurant has amazing food options (try the catch of the day!), the ac is in the room works perfectly and the bed is sooo comfy! Will literally always come back here when I’m in Zanzibar :) The pillows in the room are a bit hard but after asking about in at reception, they immediately brought me another one which was perfect

The vibes were really simple, clean, pleasant to be there. Small property but such a diverse place! Malon, Josie and Lu were the kindest, friendliest people I’ve met in a hotel. No iron in the room but they did iron my clothes upon request no charge.

the rooms looks old and not mainanted , but i must say it's very clean Since the tab water cannot be used for drinking or washing teeth i expect to have free bottle of water in the room , but there wasn't , in stead of that they offer to refel a glass bottle with a fee of 2 dolara per day , in my case we didn't use this water and the house leeping didn't fill it even thoght the hotel requested the monry on th check out, i insest to not pay eventualy they accepted it

We absolutely loved our stay at Maisha Matamu. The location in Paje is fantastic, and the hotel itself has a cozy, boutique feel that makes you instantly relax. Check-in was smooth, parking was easy, and every member of the staff—from reception to restaurant to security—was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very close to the beach, so it is super convenient to pop back and forth during the day. The bar and restaurant are close to the sunbeds, which made the service impressively fast—something we really appreciated. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and overall we had a wonderful time. The only downside was the sunbeds were very close to each other, and the hotel allowed outside guests to access the beach area with day passes, which made it feel a bit too crowded at times. However if you are looking for a fun and social vibe, it works well.

Maisha Matamu is situated right on the beach, it was beautiful! Rooms although small, were cleaned daily. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. When it rained, it came through the roof..even though we were on the bottom floor of the huts. Bathroom facilities could be improved, it was a wet room.

terrible experience seeing mice walking around inside your room on top of your luggage is something terrifying. The location on the beach is excellent and it is the only thing this hotel has. In the early morning hours, when the it's quit, i have seen a Mouse walk over my lagguage twice. the managers say they have put mouse traps, but the problem has remained. the managers justify themselves by saying that they are "naturalistic" type rooms, instead they should seriously address this problem and rent the rooms only after having solved the problem, they should tell them that there are mouse disinfectants. If it happens to you, they will say that it is your fault because you did not respect the rule of not bringing food into the room. 5 days spent looking around at every moment. you will see european liquors on display like Absolut vodka, you will pay 10 dollars, but they will put a local vodka of very poor quality and if you ask for Absolut vodka they try to make you change your mind, because that is only for display. so the standard and style is disguised as european, but it is not.

Prepare for the very basics at a top price: no luxuries included even in a deluxe hotel room (no drinking water, no glasses, no shampoo, old matrasses, often no electricity or electricty with such low voltage you cannot even charge your phone). And the airconditioning provided is broken. The hotel management is unresponsive and rude: they just left during conversation and did not fix antything. One night the electricty died completely and they still did not bother putting the generator on - for the entire hotel. Finally, next door is a party place, and they continue till late. For a hakuna matata experience: skip this place!!
