Stayed three nights at La Via Della Biciclette in Palermo. The location is excellent. We walked throughout the old city and to all the major in-town sites. The location is near the Quattro Conti but on a very quite side street so you get both convenience and a good nights sleep. The BnB is on the third floor of an old villa built in 1700 (no elevator so be ready to climb some serious stairs) and, like most of Palermo, is slowly crumbling. There are only two rooms and our room was very spacious. Manlio, the owner/host could not be nicer and provided tons of information on sites, restaurants and logistics. Breakfast was good with pastries, yogurt, fruit and juice and a cappuccino or regular coffee of both. The bed was very comfortable and both sheets and towels first class. While we had a nice stay at La Via delle Biciclette I do not understand the very high rating given by many visitors. This is a decent place to stay but not even close to exceptional. The stairs are a challenge. The bathrooms are small and the shower is tiny - literally 32” square - making for a difficult showering experience. I know it can be hard to retrofit modern plumbing into a 300 year old building but some manage it much more effectively. There are no common or outdoor areas in the property so no place to relax except in your room. The once grand palazzo is not in need of some repair and update. The ground level entry is dark, wet and musty.

Absolutely loved the decor. Spotlessly clean. Kind host with great recommendations (Palazzo Butera was particularly gorgeous!). Comfy bed. Central location (I just walked everywhere). Wonderful breakfast. You do have to climb a few flights of stairs to get to the place (so maybe don't bring big luggage), but this was also unexpectedly pleasant because the building itself also has its charms. Nothing!

The space is beautifully decorated, with very Palermo vibes. The host is always so kind, accommodating, and has great recommendations. Breakfast is a balance of healthy and decadent, good coffee, and during hours that make sense whether you want to sleep in or get out and see the sites. The sites are all within walking distance and the train station is nearby. This is where we stay every time we are in Palermo (several times a year). Yes, we have tried other places, but in the end this has been the very best and we always figure out how to stay again. We have stayed in both rooms and they are both lovely. My sister said she was surprised by the stairs. I told her "welcome to Europe!". Nothing negative of note.

Manlio and Manuela were the perfect hosts. They made us feel right at home and provided very helpful tips and information. Easy walk to all the key places we wanted to visit. We met another couple staying there who told us they have stayed with Manlio each time they were in Palermo and we understand why!!

The location is great, minutes walk from historic areas of Palermo. Nice to have the whole appartment to ourselves. Very spacious. I appreciated being able to use this kitchen to cut up an apple and store something in the fridge as well. Breakfast was great and our hosts were really helpful with suggestions for dining and traveling in and around Palermo. I really appreciated that Mario got up early for breakfast on departture day and helped me take our luggage to the taxi stand down the street. That was super kind! I appreciated our hosts asking if stairs are okay when I booked, and I didn't think it would be a problme, but there were a lot of them. As a reminder, the apartment is on the 2nd floor, which, if you are American, is the 3rd floor! For my elderly mom and sis-in-law who has hip probems, it wasn't the best option. It didn't bother me, but it was a lot to arrive and drag baggage up three floors. Just something to be aware of. Our bed was a little squeeky and I only noticed because I tossed and turned a lot one night.

A fantastic apartment set in a stunning building located perfectly to enjoy Palermo. Manlio, our host, was extremely welcoming and gave us some fantastic tips on where to visit, eat and enjoy an aperitivo, he couldn't have done more. The breakfast was really, really plentiful and tasty, and the room itself was very comfortable with a nice little balcony. We didn't find a problem at all with the bathroom being located outside the room, it's private and very luxurious. Thank you Manlio.
