One of my favorited places to stay. We stayed for 3 nights. This was our 4th time staying for my birthday and it was the best one yet. We learned about the place from a good friend that also goes every year for her birthday, The room I had last year was a little lack luster so I treated myself to the suite this time and it was so worth it. Felt like our own little apartment in Palm Springs. I love the amenities. The lanai is so beautiful, love to walk our dog there in the morning. The pool was freshly cleaned and the hot tub is always piping hot! The convenience of having The Reef tiki bar and Sancho's Mexican food right on the property is amazing. The food and drinks are SO GOOD. There's been a couple stays where we don't leave the property the entire time we're there. Yes it's not the newest or most modern place to stay but that's part of its allure for me. It's cozy and feels like a second home to us. I'll always book a suite from now on. I hope to return sooner than my birthday! Once a year isn't enough.

Very well themed and fun location to stay with large pool and great bar on site. Rates were great for the night we stayed and room was large. Room could use updating as the carpet and overall room felt dated and worn. For me the history of the resort, artwork and carvings, and vibe of the whole resort more than made up for this. The Reef bar was an excellent experience with great staff and patrons. Would definitely stay here again, especially for one of their event weekends.

It’s a cool little spot for a quick stay. It’s a little run down, but we just stayed one night and it was fine. The only bad part was that a pipe broke and they had to shut off the water. They didn’t communicate this to us & the reception staff wasn’t answering the phone, we had to step outside and ask around what was happening. Also, they didn’t know when it was going to be fixed, but we had to check out by noon so we left without showering or using the bathroom.

Stayed here for a long holiday weekend. To be honest the outside is so aesthetically pleasing however once inside our”deluxe” king room, we were a little disappointed. The wall part had staining all over it and was peeling, the bedding also had staining and the shower only had a handle with no back and exposed pipes. The bathroom was extremely hot since there was no fan or air circulation so it had to have the door remain open so the air con could cool it off. Also the air con was located at the back of the room which made it much harder to cool the room off. At one point we had to get our keys changed out twice and eventually had to have maintenance come and change the battery on our door to allow us to use key card. My bf attempted to go into “The Reef” bar and was yelled at by the bartender immediately to close the door. So needless to say we didn’t try any drinks there or bother to go back. This hotel has the potential to be 5 stars but the rooms need a lot of upgrades

The hotel has a beautiful tiki-themed property that is fun and welcoming for couples and families. The pricing was fair; the room was nice, with themed artwork, but nothing fancy in terms of amenities. All of the staff is super friendly, helpful, and hard working. Food and drinks at The Reef are really good, but we found them to be understaffed for dinner service, which made for long waits, as the bar became a more popular social spot from 6 to 9pm. Overall, we had a lot of fun staying here, it's a beautiful property with two restaurants on-site, and located just a few minutes from hiking trails, museums, restaurants, and shops.

The check-in process was very simple and fast. The rooms look slightly rundown. The restaurants on site are a bit on the pricey side. There were quite a few families with children here so if you’re looking for something more chill/relaxing, I’d look elsewhere. The tiki decor was really cute and it looked so nice at night with all the lights. The pool and hot tub are open until midnight which was really great.

I booked my stay through HOTELS.com and I was given an ADA room, when I asked why I was told because I booked it thru a 3rd party. NOTCOOL at all.

The price was right, but you get get. What you pay for. Good location, parking near room is a plus. Room was relatively clean and fairly quiet

If you like mid century, authentic old school tiki bars, a laid back calm and quiet environment to genuinely relax— this is the place for you. I can’t wait to come back.

I really enjoyed my stay at Caliente Tropics. There was a live ukulele player performing at the Reef Bar by the pool. After dinner in town, we came back to listen to the performance but there was nowhere to sit or stand. We ended up out by the pool, but could barely hear the music. I only wish they had provided some sound of the performance to be better heard out by the pool.
