Stella Beach Hotel

The view was amazing! The staff were great. Breakfast was good. Could walk to the market and village..was not too far. The mosquitoes, was not warned about them and so got bit pretty bad. The staff did help after, wish they said it before. My shower worked but it was broken. Wish the walk to the access point to the sea was cleaner and better maintained.

Breakfast was okayish. The pool was lovely. The sea view was beautiful. The very young girl who cleaned our room was delightful, and she cleaned our room immaculately. A very polite and kind Office Manager. The local village of Panormos (which was a twenty/twenty five minute walk away) was very sweet and has beautiful sandy bays and excellent restaurants and hotels, which we wished we were staying in. Crete is very lovely. The evening meals were absolutely horrible. Every evening our dinner was cold and there was no dessert. Our cold dinner was served on a bed of lettuce, which made the dinner even colder. We didn't have one warm meal in the two weeks that we stayed at The Stella Beach Hotel. We had annoyingly pre-paid for breakfast and evening meal everyday. All the other guests that we spoke to complained about the evening meals, and there were fewer and fewer guests eating at this hotel every evening, there were at most, only three or four couples eating here after trying the dinners that we were served. I think that of all the hotels that we have ever stayed in around the world (and we have been to loads), the evening meals that we had at this hotel were the worst. The reviews that I read on Trip Advisor and Booking.com's website convinced me to book this holiday and raved about the friendly hotel owner 'Stella' who supposedly cooked wonderful fresh local food every evening for her guests, together with her delightful daughter who made all the guests feel like a member of their family, This is codswallop. I asked a member of staff where Stella was, and to my surprise, I was told that Stella died years ago and she never had a daughter. The lady member of staff laughed and said it was just made up! There were only five members of staff and only two of them spoke any English. Apart from the polite Office Manager and the cleaning girl, there was a miserable elderly lady who was the main cook and grumbled all the time, especially at the young girl who did all the work, cleaning, serving drinks, waiting on tables & washing up all the dishes. There was another lady who spent all her time with the elderly lady, and was also miserable most of the time. There was the elderly lady's husband who didn't speak but sat around watching all the guests all day, and the handyman.

The location and the view The beds weren't very confortable and there was a weird smell in the bedroom. The staff wasn't very nice in the breakfast time, only because we didn't use the correct mug for our coffee. There was a knife and a spoon and several cans of empty sodas and bottles of water lying around in the window sills in the comon corredors accessing the rooms, even after they were clean.

Staff weren't always particularly friendly and the bar closed during the afternoon

Position

The swimming pool was great! Very outdated, especially the bathroom. Broken sink, mildly tiles, it seems the room had not been renovated ever.

Pool is ok. Barmen was really pleasure. We got room with air conditioning- which blows only warm air. It wasnt possible to stay at room, we were sweating and all room was smelled really badly- like cats pee ?. We told manager about air problem, she checked and said it works correctly. So we just left.

The views from the hotel are amazing and 10 minutes out from the village make it perfectly place and if you don't feel like walking taxis are 6/7 euros. Its my 2nd visit here and would not hesitate to book again There is nothing really not to it suited my needs perfectly

We had included in the superb price quality-price the small de jun and dinner which were excellent in terms of taste, always fresh, the staff behaved great with us, very friendly, in addition to that, the swimming pool was very neat, a pretty good area to travel through this island with views that I really liked. In addition to that, there are cute cats nearby and at the hotel ??

The view is surreal and it is so peaceful. When the guests aren't making noise the only thing you can hear is the sound of waves and crickets. The pool is very clean and beautiful. It's a bit far from Rethymno and other places so you should rent a car to be mobile. The private beach down the cliff was very dirty and rocky so if you wanted to enjoy a day at the beach you should go to other locations by car or by bus. The beds were not that comfortable.

this hotel is a hidden pearl for people who like peace and nature. its located on the coast, surrounded by fields where you can see from far away some goats and sheeps. there are only maybe 3 houses around the hotel. you can take a beautiful walk longside on the coast to the town (15minutes) or drive (2minutes). clean room with spacious balcony, good water pressure in the shower. swimming pool with view over the ocean. this is the ideal point for sunsets. friendly staff, the homemade carrot cake with the coffee was amazing. bring a mosquito spray and you will be ok
