The staff was very friendly and provided us with helpful recommendations about the area. The location is excellent and very central, with the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Montmartre just a short walk away. There are also plenty of restaurants, bakeries, shops, souvenir stores, and supermarkets nearby, which made it very convenient to explore the area on foot and get around easily. The hotel itself is a very old and outdated building. The rooms were not very spacious, and the carpeting was unpleasant. The hotel also had a noticeable old-fashioned smell throughout the property. To compensate for it, strong fragrances seemed to be used, which at times made the odor even more noticeable. That said, if you're simply looking for a place to leave your belongings and have a base while exploring the city, it serves its purpose well.

Excellent location — the hotel is right in the heart of Montmartre. Directly around the corner is the Sacre-Cœur, multiple Metro and bus stops, as well as a supermarket on the corner for a taste of local Parisian life. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very patient with us (and our mediocre French!) — they even provided us with directions to the nearest ATM so we could pay the security deposit (which is cash preferred, and our card wasn’t working). The lift to the upper floors is directly ahead when you enter the reception area, so easy to find for those with accessibility needs or heavy luggage. There’s also a bathroom to the left of the lift on the ground floor. The hotel entrance is locked at night, so you do have to knock to be allowed in, but there was always someone at reception so we were never left waiting long. Fortunately for us, it wasn’t raining while we stayed! I think if you’re travelling on a budget for 1-2 nights, this place absolutely does the job. Overall, we found the hotel to be incredibly dated. The decor and colour palette made the rooms feel dirty, even when we knew they were clean. I’ve noticed it’s quite on theme with a lot of Parisian buildings, particularly the residential ones in Montmartre we saw, so I think the authenticity brings with it a certain charm — but I do think it would benefit from a more modern update in places. Our room was to the back of the property, so our view was literally the back of another building and nothing else (see photo). I did appreciate that we could have the windows all the way open to let air in and listen to the sounds of the city at night, it was just a shame our cute Parisian balcony didn’t really look out to anything of scenic interest! I like my architecture but I know a lot of people won’t feel the same way. The ground floor outside area below appeared to be some kind of construction site, mostly concrete and tarpaulins — there was a lot of drilling and hammering happening directly outside our room, so not the quietest of stays. On that note, even with the windows and doors closed, we could hear another guest coughing repeatedly down the hall for most of our stay — so noiseproofing isn’t the best, if that’s a concern of yours. I found the breakfast options to be relatively limited compared to other budget continental hotel breakfasts we’ve had in Paris, but the food still tasted nice. The breakfast area is quite small, but there was always plenty of available seating and not too much noise.
