The food was excellent.

Staff seemed pretty disinterested.

The George has been around for a long time. Retains old features while not feeling tired. Hotel parking is run by an external company and costs extra. This was new since my previous visit.

The hotel was at a great location for our hikes, value for money was great. The room was very clean and the size was decent. Staff was lovely. They had great selection for breakfast but for dinner there wasn’t enough options for me as I follow a vegetarian diet.

I called the property to cancel the booking but I never received a response.

The room was large and very clean. It had a good supply of tea, coffee, and some biscuits. The breakfast was good, I had the full English with orange juice. The room was located over the downstairs toilet and when people used the hand dryer it sounded like someone was using a vacuum cleaner. The noise was constant until 2300hrs and started again at 0600hrs. There was a courtyard just below the window and drinkers were very noisy until late in the night.

Everything was fine

Both rooms were disgustingly dirty but we had already been told that they were fully booked so we knew we couldnt be moved. It used to be such a lovey hotel with fabulous food but I wouldnt ever stay there against whilst this new organisation is in charge - its gone to the dogs. I feel ashamed that I told my daughter how lovely it was because reality was something entirely different. Gone is the lovely restaurant, the wonderful staff, the service. I have spent years telling everyone what a lovely place it is. I hope no one years later takes my recommendations and books. Disgusting filthly rooms, the loss of the lovely restuarant - I didnt go there to end up having basic pub grub which was basically re-heated Brake Bros... actually not properly reheated - it was luke warm even after re-heating. You are left to your own devices at breakfast - no one tells you what is happening. My husband didnt ask for a hot breakfast as he thought we had to pay extra despite me assuring him that I had already paid for breakfast for us all. Never again.
