Mansions on Fifth Hotel

This is my favorite place to stay when I visit my son at College. It’s in walking distance to Carnegie Mellon and the parking is included in the price which helps. The reason I gave it four stars is because the property could use a little bit of updating. Maybe some new mattresses and checking out the drip sound in the bathroom. But otherwise I do love the place. I just wish it was available more often.

-Arrived Friday afternoon. Lobby of the main mansion is very nice- dark wood paneling and a classic mansion feel. Good start but downhill from there. -The front desk clerk checked me in and gave me my key. He told me that my room is in the other house and that it is a three-flight walk-up to get there. No elevator. I was not given this information when I booked the room. While my wife and I are very fit, I had recently injured my knee; in addition, I had a lot of equipment to carry to my room (I am a musician and had guitars, keyboards, etc.). Walking up three flights of stairs is not acceptable unless they had alerted me to this fact beforehand. -The room had nothing luxurious about it. While it was "fine", there was no luxurious furniture, artwork, or decoration. -The bed made plastic-sounding noises whenever we moved. Sheets were not soft. -Toiletries consisted of three small containers of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There was only enough body wash for one person for one showering event. -While this was considered a "bed and breakfast-style hotel", there was no breakfast included. Given a paper to order pre-made breakfast the night before. $15 for a pre-made sandwich. -When I checked out the clerk never even asked how our stay was. Just asked if we wanted a receipt. This said it all.

I like the place. A true gem.

We loved our stay at the Mansion! It was clean, staff were friendly and the property was beautiful. Cannot wait to stay there again.

Exceptional

Large rooms in a Castle like atmosphere. No real kitchen but offers fee for breakfast likely brought from outside vendor to order. Portable room AC but worked efficiently. Would stay again. Free WiFi.

It’s a perfectly nice place to stay. The rooms are simple and clean and parking is included.

The historical atmosphere, architecture, and decor of the mansion is amazing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to us. Very nice breakfast. Nothing. Everything was great!

The property is beautiful, nice gothic vibe, a lot of flowers- very good. Woman at the lobby didn’t notify us that the room is ready although she knew that we are waiting. It is not friendly. Our sofa had candy from other customers which was not pleasant experience for us.

Very clean room, comfortable bed and pillows. Quiet location and couldn't hear other guests despite being sold out. In room coffee was good. Parking was not plentiful and parking along fence line was not clear if it was allowed until we asked.

Did not do the boxed breakfast was not told about the complimentary coffee in the lobby No coffee packets in the room just a coffee maker There was no fridge in the room had to ask for one. Aldo did not know about the no alcohol in the room policy

We picked it for the close proximity to my son’s townhome. Receptionist upon check in wasn’t welcoming . We had issues with WiFi the first night. The room phone for the front desk wasn’t connected and we had to walk back down to inquire about WiFi connectivity issues. Same receptionist at the front desk was super unhelpful. Another employee from the back came out to the room to look. Wi fi issue wasn’t corrected until morning front desk staff figured out the problem.

The Mansion is simply grand in every way. Beautifully restored to its old glory, while tastefully updated to modern standards. I will be back.

The place was absolutely beautiful! Gardens we gorgeous too! The room had ants! The lamp that had a place to plug in a charger didn’t charge I asked for it to be replaced and the desk clerk said they couldn’t do that! Also the ac unit was one that was mobile with a hose out the window! Not expected in a “luxury hotel! On our second night we didn’t see any ants!
