AKBAL Playa - Beach Zone

Good location. There was mold in the AC and the toilet and while the room had a kitchen it had nothing more than a pot and a few forks. Also, while it has a bell, there are times when they just don’t come to open the door. The pictures are misleading, it looks nice but the hotel is in very bad condition.

Location Booking did not help me out at all when I emailed them to see if he can change properties. They said that they would contact me within 48 hours and they didn’t.

Perfect location, 1 block way from the 5th avenue pedestrian walkway where all the action is and easy access to the beach. Hotel not on the beach, just a side street so don't let the name fool you. Not the fault of the hotel, but there's a noisy bar 1 block away that's puslating music until at least 2am if not later, so if you need to sleep early, that's not happening. Also front gate locks at night and y ou have to ring the bell and someone eventually comes and lets you in, but you may be waiting 5 minutes or so, they're in no hurry.

It’s a cute small place, close to everything Lousy communication, if you text them to see if you can’t drop off your luggage early or anything you just don’t get any answer. It’s more like an Airbnb than a hotel as far as nobody is there to open the door if you ring the door anytime in the morning or anytime they are not expecting you. Internet is not extremely fast at all times, I have seen it fast and I have seen it so slow I could not even write this review without going on my own data

Nothing Black mold on the walls and ceiling. I asked to change rooms but they didn’t have one. I asked for a refund but they wouldn’t give me one. The person in charge told me they wouldn’t even teach him how to do a refund on the machine and that this happens frequently and they won’t change. He also told me the maintenance person would be coming the next day to paint over the mold. So… I would have had someone in my room panting and then sleep in paint fumes. I had barely checked in when I started feeling sick and got a headache from the mold smell. I contacted the property owner and they refused to refund me. They could have cancelled the transaction before it posted the next day but after repeated texts they still refused. They told me “humidity is common in this area”. I left after two hours and had to find somewhere else to stay. Terrible place. Don’t stay there.

It was easily accessible. It had a mini kitchenette and a microwave which we used to make some popcorn. The tv was not working well the first night it was frozen. It worked the second night. There were only two towels for three people, and no foot towel or mat for use of shower to not make floor wet. It was not super clean, and there was only one roll of toilet paper. The fridge leaked a lot of water onto our cooler bag from inside fridge.

AC and wifi function. The attendant was nice but speaks no English at all. The location is good. It is next to a good restaurant. It is close to shops on 5th Ave. It is close to the beach. It is easy to get to. It is easy to leave when you don't like it. Did i mention that the location is great? Because that is about all I have to say that is positive. First of all, they only accept cash, no cards. No one told me this, so I had to go find an ATM in the rain. I had just gotten cash for the bus at the airport, had I known I would need another 1000 MXN for the hotel I would have done it at the same time. So, I ended up paying more ATM fees and losing money on the exchange rate. it does NOT have a pool view unless you mean as you pass it on the way in to go up the steps to the room. There is no view of the pool from the room, just the patio which was someone's smoking area. The other view from the bedroom is out to the busy street. The place was not clean, the floors had not been swept or mopped, as I found out after getting out of the shower with no mat. It is not a fully equipped kitchen; you wouldn't even be able to cook a full meal here with what they give you. The coffee maker looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. They gave me one bath towel for two days, no bath mat, no hand towels, no kitchen towels. All the fixtures are dated and rusty. The attendant was nice but speaks no English at all, and didn't make any effort to help me with translation after a long travel day, and when it was clear I was frustrated about the payment issue. I now know why it is half the price of everything else.

The toilet made noises, but the stuff solved the problem. The bed was not great.

Helpful staff Right next to a main avenue, with no barriers to reduce noises. Bad lighting at the toilet. The kitchen was equipped with only a few essentials.

The area was pritty good The room was full of mold, i couldnt breathe in it! Absolutely dirty, old tissues next to the bed, way to pricy for that. We couldnt find the Apartment very vell, there is no big sign on it

Nothing "WARNING ⚠️ ☠️????☢️" DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. I was given a room that didn't match my booking. Bait and switch 101! First the place is disgusting. bugs, black mold, unsanitary, unprofessional is an under statement! The air conditioner had black mold in it. The toilet leaked all over the floor the pool had no circulation and had bug larvae in it. I was given one tiny roll of toilet paper for 4 days. It is not secure at all. The gate to enter and my door were broken and easily accessible. I got sick from the room and had to spend a bunch of money on medicine from the pharmacy and who knows exactly what was in the medicine because Mexico is not regulated like other countries around the world. Truly a roll of the dice moment. The gate outside is broken and 1 inch of caulk is holding the lock in the jam. My room door was a bath door lock with a key that was separated and could easily be entered. My TV volume was broken so no sound.The dishes were dirty so I had to go buy soap to wash them before I could even cook. There were very limited cooking utensils that should be replaced.The bed spring poked in your back I had to use towels to protect my body. The electricial wires were exposed in areas causing a risk of shock or even possibly death. If you have even been to Mexico Then you know of the "GRINGO TAX" it's a racist discrimination that some people think is acceptable it truly isn't anywhere in the world I speak Spanish and witnessed the property manager giving way lower rates to locals and getting the room I paid for through booking.com. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!!

The pool was a little cloudy but can be due to the reain over the past days The mattress can be upgraded there can be a few more appliances added like a blender and microwave A few extra cushions are a good idea but not an issue

spacious The location was horrible, right above a bar and next to the road. people were playing loud music all night. I had to leave the reservation in 3 hours in the middle of the night because I couldn't get any sleep with all the noise. There were cockroaches everywhere in the room. There was no parking.
