Singular Joy Downtown Residences

I have stayed in this building several times. I love its location near the 5th Ave and the ocean. I don’t have any complaints.

Rooftop was our happy place. Exceptional view, cleanliness, excellent bartender. Lovely pool! We water happy to happy the battery removed from the back of the door lock so that we could have a physical key. 1. A few of the clothes dryers, on the bottom, were not drying clothes even after three attempts. The top ones worked better. 2. Gym: Good basic gym but: the cleaner spray bottle was empty for the full two weeks we were there even when we told them about it; A floor mat and one large exercise ball would be useful. Treadmill on the far right suddenly stopped working. The spin bike makes a terrible clunking noise every time the pedal goes around. 3. Issues with the fingerprint sensor pad in the gym even when my fingerprint worked upstairs. 4. Initially, the air conditioning did not work correctly, but was quickly repaired by resetting the breaker. TV in living didn’t work. Apparently related to construction damage they said. Found evidence of some recurrent dripping from the air conditioner in the bedroom, bathroom and living room near the window.

Great pool and areas in the roof. The suite was perfect for 2. Staff was very responsive in trying to make our stay pleasant. The bar staff on the rooftop were not very amicable. Was a big deal to have the umbrella opened. The suite is missing a lots of basics, no wine opener, we had to buy our own plastic glass as they require those at the pool and ice tray. If you want a quiet night, might not be the right spot, very loud at night due to the proximity of bars. But if you want to party at night, you win.

Close access to everything and nice interior

Beautiful rooftop pool and drink service on the patio. We had stayed at Singular Joy before and expected we were getting a similar room with a basic sitting area and food prep area, but we had just a basic small hotel-style room with a narrow window that didn't open.

Great location

The location was fantastic - right in the middle of the "action". There's an abundance of restaurants, cafes, activities, and dance clubs within short walking distance. The bus station is also only several blocks away, though it's a bit of an exercise in the heat. The building staff and cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful. This apartment was very poorly maintained. The window was broken (open), so there were a few mosquitoes that greeted us upon arrival. There was a hole in the drywall, which was a bit odd. The blankets and towels had stains on them, and one of the pillows had a very bad mildew smell. Also, the light fixture in the bathroom was hanging out of the ceiling and someone's "big-toe" nail clipping (yes, you read that right) was sitting on one of the desk stools, which was pretty disgusting. However, the most irritating and disruptive issue was that the electronic door lock kept alerting us of a low battery (loudly) all night long. We contacted the owner about it, who claimed it was fixed several times, but it wasn't. With impeccable timing, right before checkout when we were in a hurry, the batteries finally died and the lock wouldn't let us in the apartment. We had to get the front desk to open it in a hurry, but they said they couldn't since they don't have access to the apartments. Fortunately, the cleaning service was close-by (and very kind) so she could open the door with a special physical key.

The rooftop, pool and location are what would make you choose this hotel. The problem is the room, it is extremely outdated, the sink is poorly fixed, the shower doesn’t have pressure and the ac is very loud. It has a broken closet with linen and towels that shouldn’t be in the room.

Great position in the city. Clean, good amenities, and AC. The pool was a bit too crowded sometimes.

The location was great. We booked a two bed, two bath, and we got a two bed 1 bath.

The atmosphere was lovely, the roof top and the architecture was gorgeous. Very minimalist but cozy. The window view from the room. There were also ants on the bed one night.

Can use a blender for the room to make drinks. Also, needs kitchen towels to dry dishes after they are washed.

The location was amazing. The ac did not work. The room stayed at about 80 degrees despite telling the front desk staff twice. The was basically no water pressure in the shower.

The room decor is very nice. Liked that the kitchen was decked with proper items. The bathroom was a good size as well. Location was amazing! The vent were disgusting, had so much dust I felt uncomfortable. The room we got was damaged by the previous people staying. Sink in second bathroom was cracked, the door lock was ripped off…..the noise is also really bad at night from the clubs. The rooms are also somewhat small, my suitcase had to lay on the floor and was in the way constantly because there wasn’t much walking room.
