Our stay at the B&B was one of the best we have ever had. Outstanding!

I brought a group there. I'm a tour guide. The staff was wonderful and even made fresh scrambled eggs and bacon for us which was delicious! They were so accommodating for everything I needed. I would definitely go back again.

River view was nice but we had a window...and I had hoped for a small balcony.

Everything was fantastic..great food for breakfast, beautiful view from the room. The room was much bigger than expected.

The history and location of 1872 River House was the best start to our trip in Portugal. Walking along the river during the day and evening with the lights was lovely. Due to late planning we weren't able to get a room overlooking the river, yet it was quaint and lovely non the less. I highly recommend and would return without question.

The property was close to a lot of restaurants and entertainment. It was a little difficult to find.

Breakfast was delightful, varied and plentiful. The breakfast room was especially nice as it looked out on the River. The location was perfect for seeing the old town and crossing the river to the port caves for tours. Would definitely stay there again.

The staff was extremely nice and friendly They were very helpful with information They held on to our bags for us because I had to go look for my passport Which I actually found in the gift shop around the corner. Amazing! Portugal is safe and people are honest The rooms are tight They offer pancakes but no syrup Im American I have never had them without syrup Used jam and it was ok

It is a beautiful hotel with an amazing view of the river. The breakfast that is included is quite yummy and gives one a good start to a day of walking uphill and down.

So was Bruna. The breakfast exceeded my expectations.

We had a perfect stay! The room was beautiful and unique, featuring a natural piece of rock integrated into the design — really special. The location couldn’t be better: right by the river, just a short walk to the city center and even close to a McDonald’s. Upon arrival, we received a lovely welcome gift of cookies and wine because of a supposed issue with the air conditioning (which we actually didn’t experience at all). Bruna was incredibly kind and helpful with everything — she made our stay even better.

Great location, cute design, exceptional staff. The AC was not working and the hotel did their best to provide individual units in each room, but for that to work you needed to run the exhaust to the outside of the window. It was better to just open the window for a few hours during the night.

Clean, great location, good breakfast and the view from the breakfast room of the river is exceptional. Plus, it's right next to a McDonalds and in easy location for doing things. Room photos give the impression beds are double beds. They are not. They are two single beds shoved together with separate sheets. So, being on our honeymoon, we were disappointed.

Room was small but typical for Europe. Friendly and helpful staff, room and guesthouse clean. Breakfast was good too! Location is right on the river with plenty of options for dining. Note that there are no elevators which was a minor issue for us since we'd been traveling for 2 weeks and had large suitcases that we had to bring up and down a few flights of stairs. Other than that slight inconvenience, the property and staff were lovely.
