The hotel itself was very beautiful, and the staff was very nice. We had a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us when we arrived, which was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious. Unfortunately, this was easily the worst night's sleep I've had in a hotel ever. The hotel's location is on an extremely loud street. They do provide earplugs, but that doesn't help the other issue. The AC unit is near the window, but when you close the heavy blinds, the cold air gets trapped behind the blinds, making the room very warm. The loud, warm room was really not worth the price we paid.

It was very quaint. Old but new. I loved everything. Breakfast was excellent and service all over was great.

Location was superb. Staff were polite and accommodating, although we overheard other guests getting scorched for not making breakfast reservations. Housekeeping did a fantastic job. Was able to use Torel Avantgarde's gym throughout our stay, though it's a 20 minute walk away. I don't mind the walk/steps, but this may be a dealbreaker for other guests. Studio Apartment lacked proper storage. One 20" wide closet with eight hangers, one shelf inside of it. Only other drawers to place items in were on the kitchen "island" and faced the minifridge. Very odd design. We lived out of our suitcases for four evenings. Not great. Not enough outlets in the unit. Only five were accessible-- one on each side of the bed, one in the kitchen next to the stove (had to unplug the tea kettle), one in the bathroom. They offer a "pillow menu," however do not have a down pillow option. We asked for softer/down pillows and were given medium softness synthetic pillows. I did not sleep well as a result. The top floor Studio Apartment we stayed in (#10) had a serious ceiling/wall creaking issue. It would creak throughout the day, however at night multiple spots in the ceiling/wall would creak every 15-20 minutes. The top floor Studio Apartment we stayed in (#10) also had a serious bird issue on the roof. Seagulls would make noise at all hours of the day, up until 2AM, and start again at 6AM. Zero rest as a result, in addition to bad pillow quality, made for sleepless nights. No smart TV in the room. Only a few basic cable channels (in Portuguese, as expected) with no subtitles. Remotes have a Netflix button, but the TVs aren't configured for that feature. Booking.com kitchen description has Microwave incluced, however the Studio Apartment does not feature one. It has an oven/air fryer combo unit. Carpet runners in Apartment Building from the entry stairs to the top floor is absolutely filthy. Replace them with black carpet to hide all stains, street dirt, etc.

It was a pleasure to stay at the Torel 1884. I must give a big thank you to the entire staff at this boutique hotel. Everyone from the person who greeted us at the door, reception, dining room and the two sweet young ladies who brought us chocolates and a bookmark to our room at 7pm . We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely, giving us a peaceful night's sleep. The hotel is beautiful the first thing you see is the grand staircase that takes you to the sun drenched library. We loved everything about this hotel and as the saying goes "if it ain't broke ,don't fix it." Nothing is broken in this establishment so there is no reason to change or fix anything. I highly recommend this small luxury hotel. . Everything was perfect

This place is amazing. Not only are the rooms beautiful and in the best location for tourism, but the staff is 5 stars. When we went to breakfast each day they would remember our preferences. They left us a bottle of sparkling wine. They helped me DHL a package - 10/10 Nothing!

Everything! Great service, location, comfort, and breakfast. A haven in busy Porto. Augusta at the reception desk went above and beyond to help us with a personal issue. The apartment was super clean and cleaned every day. I'll be back.

Location Overall, we appreciated the design and concept of the hotel, as well as the kindness of the staff. However, there are several aspects of the stay that could be improved, especially considering the price point of the Junior Suite. The room itself felt excessively dark, to the point where artificial lighting was necessary throughout the day. Improving natural light or overall lighting design would significantly enhance the experience. We also found the lack of common areas somewhat limiting — there is no real lobby or bar space where guests can comfortably spend time outside the room. Regarding the restaurant, the policy of requiring a payment guarantee, even for in-house guests, felt unusual and somewhat inconvenient. In the room, there were a few functional issues: some lights were not working properly, and the absence of drawers made it difficult to organize belongings during the stay.iu Finally, the quality of the bathroom amenities (shampoo and conditioner) did not meet expectations for a hotel of this level. We hope this feedback is helpful, as the property has great potential and a very attentive team.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, accommodating our early checkin and VIP treatment in the room!

I forgot some of my clothes in the room and the reception sent it to my flat in Paris on the same day. 5 stars The flat is beautiful, spacious & clean Nothing

This was one of the nicest hotel stays I've ever experienced. Loved everything about it - the room, the service, the cleanliness and comfort of the room, the breakfast the location. Would love to come back someday. The room I was initially in was facing the street and a little noisy. I asked to be transferred to another room and they moved me to a back room which was blissfully quiet.

So matchable, we love everything about it. The location was great, the staff was very pleasant. The breakfast was amazing. We could not have asked for a better stay! Honestly, I really can’t think of anything even the huge old-fashioned keys that were quite cumbersome were actually fun and the front desk was happy to keep it for us

Pedro was a dream! He is helpful, smart, kind and is such a great asset. Please give him a raise! We would come back just because of his helpfulness. Thank you, Pedro!

The property is beautiful ! Very good staff! The bathroom is too dark!

Location is perfect. The refinement and good taste of the interior design. The restaurant Bartolomeu is outstanding but most of all we liked the kindness of the team that runs the hotel. They made the experience unique. I think it is important to know if you make a reservation that there is no elevator so probably you ll have to climb the stairs to your room. It is not a defect but something to be aware of. The hotel has two buildings. It is important to pay attention and know where you want to be for no surprises.

Lot of things. There is a nice warm decoration and history. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Loved the restaurant. Very nice location . Great size of room. Attention for my baby The bathroom was too cold and smelly and the small heater very noisy .
