Hotel Papaya Surf

Hotel is small but clean, friendly staff. Rooms are ok size. I travelled with my mom , my daughter and my niece . The four of us were comfortable in the small bungalow close to the pool. Rooms have air conditioning although there is no TV. It didn’t matter to us. The little kitchen had a very small gas stove, fridge, sink and had the utensils to cook & eat. It was very practical for cooking breakfast, lunch or dinner. Location is excellent. Right on the heart of Zicatela beach. You literally step out of the hotel, and are right in front of where the big waves are. The surfing spectacle is happening right there. I would definitely go back to the hotel. Rooms do not have a tv.

The beach is just in front of property (20 meters away)... we could see the beach/ocean from our room! Jimena was great and helpful, gave us great recommendations for dining and surrounding beaches. The room was nice and simple, and clean! Perhaps in future the smaller rooms can have a mini bar to keep drinks cold! Place is great!

There are lots of places to eat close by, bar, little cafés, it's right on the beach, the pool was nice. Also they had hameck , they had little tables to eat outside each room. No A/C ,the fan they had was really not blowin enough air to cool. Almost no privacy in the WC ?, they just have a hanging door that isn't from floor to roof.

Have been traveling the world for over 30 years and have never had any issues. I usually avoid daily cleaning service at hotels to avoid issues. Forgot to advise the hotel that no cleaning service was needed and on my last day some cash disappeared from my room. I left it out by mistake and only the maid came into the room. She denied seeing it so there was nothing I could do.

The location was great! Across from the beach and within walking distance of lots of restaurants/bars. The pool was nice to use when it was hot. The A/C worked well. The bed was terrible. You could feel the springs.

So convenient and steps away from the Zicatela Beach. I liked how rustic and simple it was. The room had a bed, a desk and your own bathroom. I ended up getting one with an A/C because it was too hot for me. They supplied Towels and the Shower had good pressure. I stayed in a room in the back which was nice and quiet. The greenery offered shade and was decorated really nice. On the third floor is a terrace to sit and relax and have a nice view of the beach. There is someone at the property 24/7 in case you need help or you have a late check in. There is a full size pool which I used to cool off before going strolling to the shops and then the restaurants. I have no complaints and if i did have a request they were willing and very accomodating to help me.

The pool and location on this place is incredible! The two host are amazing they are taking over this place on which they are working their best to make it a wonderful place to be. We love their customer service, good vibes and energy!

Very reasonable weekly/monthly rates. Location was great. Swimming pool. Great staff. Had only a fan in the room but it was still comfortable. Marco and Julietta and staff were very friendly. Hotel was away from the discos. Gracias por todos!

The staff was very polite and the location is incredibly central, making it easy to get to anywhere along the Zicatela beach by walking. We did have hot water in our room so that was a nice unexpected bonus. Also, the resident hotel cat, Rahoul, was the highlight of our stay! The rooms are extremely spartan. You definitely get what you pay for. There is no A/C, the bed is hard as a rock, and there are minimal electric outlets. Also the lighting goes in and out. However, if you just need somewhere to rest your head at night and aren’t going to be spending much time in the room, it’s perfectly adequate and affordable!

The location is fantastic. Right across the street from the beach. The gentleman at the front desk was kind and helpful. Internet connection was outstanding. The rooms were sketchy. They smelled musty, and my sheets were old and stained. The floors are concrete with a rough finish. The curtains did not cover the windows properly. You get what you pay for. The pictures online make the hotel look way better than it is.

Very clean room. Friendly and polite staff. There was A/C in the room. Wi-Fi Internet could be better. Restaurant only takes cash.

Exceptional

staff is friendly, but doesn’t speak a lot of english. if you’re looking for nightlife it’s a Nice place to stay, cause you can walk to most clubs in Zicatella. It’s 100 m from the Beach, but you can’t really swim there, cause the waves are crazy. they cleaned our room. the shower had hot water. the pool isn’t very Nice, so we didn’t swim there. wifi was kinda bad, but it’s like that everywhere in Puerto Escondido. the door to our room was broken.

cleaning everyday and cleaning ladies were friendly, nice pool, spacious room, amazing aircon, host met our requests wifi not the best, very weak water pressure in the shower, no communal available drinking water
